  1. This is a learning, probing adventure to discover exciting new sounds, methods, personalities and plans (of others I might add as I am flying by the seat of my pants at the moment). These wheels are turning, but where the destination we’ll be led to is a surprise to even the one in the driver’s seat. Let the adventure begin!
  2. Not sure I'll have Wi-fi tomorrow or for a few days.  If you don't hear from me that's why, but I'll be back!

  3. I had my first ever worship team music workshop ever last Saturday.  Our pastor brought in a friend of his from college whom he says knows everything there is to know about anything to do with music. Sooooo....I was pretty excited about that.  Anyhoo....He took us into the sound room at the back for the sanctuary and explained the sound board to us.  Now I have an idea what "panning" is and what gain, headroom, impedance, and linear are.  I've got to make some connections from forum discussions here though to keep it in my head and not forget, but actually SEEING the equipment and having him explain from the get-go how sound travels through the soundboard as his finger traveled along the soundboard to he where adjusts the gain and the headroom helps me.   He also explained how the top buttons were like the pressure behind a fire hose and the sliding things on the bottom were like the faucet inside the house (I hope I didn't flip that around) I'm hoping I'll get to sit with some of the people who run it on Sundays when I'm not singing and learn how to operate this thing--hoping...not sure yet. It would help my understanding a lot.  I'm kind of a hands-on learner.  Anyway.  THAT is a big event in my quiet little corner. :)

Sounds like a sports team eh?  Don't know the answer to that question, David.  If there is a measurement of sorts, I don't know how we fall on it.  We just try to engage in the moment, with God, each other, and with the music.  Its quite satisfying to sing with others rather than alone and we blend well.

I love that you reaffirmed it, Ustaknow.  I do believe I am already forgetting some of the terms for lack of real-life connections.

  4. Welcome to SongStuff Max!

  5. A shout out to all our Veterans on here.  Thank you for serving to secure the freedoms we enjoy today.  I pray you receive whatever medical care and family support your service for us necessitated in timely fashion and whatever benefits you were promised at the time you enlisted be fulfilled.  I pray that you and your families be strengthened, supported and appreciated and that your time together be filled with all that you missed out on during your time serving.

  6. Sunshine, crisp October air, best apples of the year, jeans and sweater weather--doesn't get much better than this!

  7. I have taken an unintended break from all things songwriting. Life has just stepped up the pace a bit since school started.  This is a busy time of year for me--working, sports, school events and other.  I hope to get back to critiquing and submitting new songs once routine finds its placement.  Also, haven't forgotten "the project", just trying to wrap my brain around how to go about it.  Looking for that happy place where my environment is settled and I can hunker down for a good chunk of thinking time--the best products come with that thinking time.  My apologies for those lyrics and songs I may have missed out on.  Hopefully, there will be time in the future where I can play catch up!

      Hope to see you soon!

  8. I'm trying this thing!

I still don't know exactly how to fully form a song this way, but as I'm cutting up the strips and chunking them into between 3-5 words, I'm beginning to see the genius in this method!

I think I misunderstood, but I've created a fun futureque storyline from it!

    Don't wait too long

That's awesome, Ray! I can see why, you've got some great lines in there! Lots of sentiment! Not sure how familiar you are over there with Faith Hill, but she's a pretty big name in country music over here. You most certainly have my hopes for your lyrics to be selected!
  10. Hargh! Boy did I ever get things confused here. Sorry Timbre. It's all Ray's fault. Haha! Just kidding, Ray. I can manage to get mixed up all on my own 😜
  11. Laughing is good! I love to laugh! Yes, I got all mixed up thinking you were the poster of the song and EVENTUALLY I caught on, but didn't have the chance to reply, so all the above was meant for @Skin, though I'm sure is irrelevant now due to timing, but I knew you were fairly new here, so when I thought YOU wrote the song, figured it was recent. Doesn't take much to confuse me! lol!
  12. Ray, I think the repeated line of your chorus, "Again and Again and Again" would be an option for a title. Granted, it doesn't seem to give any clues as to the song theme, but I'm sure there are plenty of hooks that don't. I think that "I'm tasting life for the first time" gives a nice imagery. That line instantly puts me in the emotion of someone "waking up to life" after just sort of meandering through it. This and your second verse led me to think what woke this person up was finding/being with a person who contributed to that waking up. I wasn't really following that it was a first-time sexual experience until I hit the bridge and even then to me it wasn't obvious as I was still in the mindset of waking up to "life". It took your explanation below it to make it clear and that sort of took away from the exhilaration of "feeling alive" to me, mainly because it changed my mental course from it being an inner experience to being a physical one. I took the meaning of the bridge to say that you had a weakness for this very special person and that person could affect you in a way others aren't. Personally, I was liking the theme that was flowing through my mind, perhaps my gender plays into that. I don't think it would take a whole lot of tweaks to change it to that theme, but I think there is so much more that could liven up a theme such as tasting life for the first time. For example: New experiences like 1st ride on the back of a motorcycle (for ladies), a kiss, playing a contact sport in the rain, waking up to the early morning sunrise, especially on the water (Hey--just got a kayak, so hopefully will be an exhilarating new life experience for me--yay--can't wait!), but that's the idea. Words you've used that really play into that are: taste, savor, take this leap, breathing, can't catch my breath. I also think the theme would be far more marketable.
  13. Hi Undersnow :)  Welcome to Songstuff!  I only know about you from reading another newbie's intro, so thought I'd swing by and welcome you here!  So much to see here when you're new.  Hopefully, I'll see you in the fourms!

  14. I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Weekend.  Thank you to our servicemen whose aim it is to protect this country and our freedoms.

  15. It may be that I'm on my iPod that it doesn't show up. I seem to get more on the computer, but when I searched the artwork that's usually on the site to show my daughter, I could find it.  Has it been removed or is it moved?  I tried looking under images and videos, but couldn't find it.

    1. Pahchisme Plaid

That was supposed to be "couldn't find it". My iPod doesn't offer edit options in forums.

  18. Hey Richard, I did type "Home" in the search bar above and nothing came up.  Can you link me to that song so I can listen?

      Here you go....

    2. Pahchisme Plaid

Trying to work out something for this little bits at a time, but I have to search for it every time.  It gets buried under the activity feed.

    3. Richard Tracey

I am going to post up a couple of instrumentals I was never happy with the lyrics for and see if anyone wants to have a go at writing lyrics to them. Anyone who wants to get involved, I will allow them to download the track to work with, similar to what Dek did. None of the tracks have been completed instrumentation or arrangement wise, as I moved on to something else, but there are ideas there. Home will be one of these tracks, but none of the titles need to remain, they are placeholders.

Will try to get that going today if I find a minute.

  19. Hi David, I was just checking out the lyrics you mentioned you wanted suggestions on from Nov. 16.  There didn't seem to be any place to reply to them on that forum, so that's why I'm here.  I was wondering what your envisioned tempo and genre were for this song.  What I might suggest (because you asked, not because I see issues at all with what you have), is this:  I think it would be pretty cool to use "Rendezvous" as the name of a place, a town or city.  You might have to tweek one of your verses a bit to get the idea of it, but your chorus set-up works for both "ideas" if you wanted to jump from the idea of a meeting in one verse to a city/town/place in another.  Just an idea.

    1. Pahchisme Plaid

Ooops, now I know why I couldn't reply.  It was the archive and the year 2016.  Guess I should pay closer attention to where I am.

    2. Islandwriter

Glad to hear from you again. Indeed, I feel the need for help with this set of lyrics. Why, well, right now it's ineffable.

I love the idea of making it the name of a town/place. I have it out and I'm reading it. Do you have some specific suggestions to help? And if it would be easier for you as it would for me, may we work on this via regular email? Mine is islandwriter1948@gmail.com. Maybe this song could be a collaboration.

I'll shoot you an email, David Ritchie.

  20. who'd'a' thought? Grief to a car commercial? Out of context it does work though, and they probably wouldn't use much more than those lines. Good for you!
  21. Hi SavieShea, and welcome. :)
