  1. Does it absolutely require lyrics,or can the title do some of the work?
  2. I was kind of stumped so I just wrote what I knew
  3. Tonedead was feeling something that could be described as happy, but also relief. He finally figured out exactly how he would use vocals in his music. He would pick out key phrases from his writing. Some statement or question that held special meaning. Those would be repeated, like a chant. As if a call to prayer or invocation of a spell
  4. Sometimes spur of the moment captures something that can't be rehearsed
  5. That's a great track. I Like when the vocals go at it with each other
  6. I recently got the new FKA Twigs album that plays out a bit like a concept album. Arca's Kick and Kick II are strongly in the category along the Bjork album Utopia that they produced with her. Youth Lagoon's 'Wondrous Bughouse' has a central theme. The last Chromatics album could be considered one.Weeknd has taken some sort of stab at it and electronic prog is a thing now It's out there if you look for it I have had plans to upload some of my newer tracks in a particular order on mixcloud when they are done and done,in case anyone would want to hear them in the order I would have them in.

  8. Hello,@ An Abstract Mouse I've been doing the same
  9. @MikeRobinson I can relate. In my 20's I still wanted to be a painter, even though I did buy a fretless bass with an accident settlement. Just in case I had a knack for being New Jersey's answer to Mick Karn.
  10. @VoiceEx Thanks. I tried quoting once, but the page got a bit fiddly on me. This is much betta
  11. I hadn't thought of that. Im on a handheld tablet so maybe that's why I don't see signatures in posts
  12. I find it humorous that these tech giants will have to tackle big real world problems affecting humanity in general to really see the vision through
  13. I find that making music nobody wants to copy helps immensely
  14. I took a swing at it just to get something on youtube. Hastily made, poorly planned slideshow that generated less interest than my soundcloud page so I was definitely doing something wrong
  15. Hello Tanju Demirhan. I'm new here too. My name is Troy but I go by Tonedead because Troy is just too easy.
  16. You could always just stop expecting popular music to be more than it is. I find that sometimes people get themselves in a box. I can't really complain about what Amazon unlimited throws at me because I think my choices for favorite artists has Alexa a little confused. What do you play next for a guy in his 50's that likes Pink Floyd,Be Bop Deluxe,Dua Lipa,Eno,Ahmed Saad,Caron Wheeler,Bent,Roy Ayers,Sonic Youth,The Residents,Tito Puente,Cocteau Twins,Yes,Japan,Masters At Work....
  17. Neat lawns, child pawns, love takes, heart breaks, words cut, wounds bleed, people leave, come and go, stone's throw, rock the cradle, rule the world, set the scene evergreen
  18. To the movies? Just kidding. Not as such. Just the part about adding some solo bits
  19. I 2nd SurgeXT and suggest TAL Noisemaker synth,reverb & chorus + Full Bucket
  20. One thing I did early on was create my own subfolders in the Ableton Live instrument and Fx racks sections of the user presets folder. All my vst, no matter where it is,gets grouped whether I assign macro knobs or not, just so it can be saved as a rack preset in my custom subfolders. That way I get to keep sampler instruments and customs racks organized with the vst instruments. Also That way if an old plugin absolutely insists in some hardwired location on install, It's not a bother. It will end up getting racked.
  21. So far I've figured out why my tracks tend to come in around 6 minutes even after I've edited out about 5 minutes because I just kept going then think it needs to be cut back and also feel like it's therapeutic
  22. This is a track I started a week ago. Just the bones of a song that needs work. I haven't decided where to go with it. I'm hoping to get someone to guest with a solo. I managed before some time ago with an electric violinist I connected with on instagram....or was it Twitter before I burned out on using twitter. Anyhow https://m.soundcloud.com/tonedeadj/spring2-mp3/s-K8CESgYRbZk
