  1. Welcome @Palmiro I checked out your soundcloud - some interesting stuff there. 🙂 See you around and welcome, CCB
  2. I suspect traditional English folk (rock) is not going to attract 1000's of views on this forum, but what the hey! 😁 A cover of two songs (traditional folk songs themselves) by the same name by two separate folk rock outfits. The first 2/3's is a cover of Morris On's (functionally The Albion Band) song Cuckoo's Nest and the last 1/3 is Cuckoo's Nest by Steeleye Span - which was the last 1/3 of a song they did called Drinking Down the Moon! Confused?!😀 My vocal is pretty strained at the start but is better (when hidden) when the instruments come in. I added some lyrics in to Steeleye Spans song, namely: The King is dead The King is dead His crown is on the ground The King is dead The King is dead His body can't be found Perhaps he walk amongst us No tomb to home his rest Forever ever hunting down the Cuckoo's Nest Hi the Cuckoo Ho the Cuckoo Hi the Cuckoo's Nest Hi the Cuckoo Ho the Cuckoo Hi the Cuckoo's Nest Sirens on the rock put many men to tortured test Tempted by their cravings of the Cuckoo's Nest
  3. Hi @StevieM This is lovely. Really atmospheric Great effects on the vocals. I can't say anything other than well done. This is really accomplished. Well done. CCB
  4. This is supremely beautiful @Rene Asologuitar What a beautiful sounding guitar, voice and song. You have done such a great job with this. I'm sure you are aware, but your voice is incredibly soulful. This is the best thing I've heard today and I've heard a lot. 😉 Count me thoroughly impressed. CCB
  5. Hi and Welcome @kevin christensen Sounds to me like heading over to the lyrics section may be a good idea. Lots of word talk in there. 🙂 Hope to see you around. CCB
  6. A little later than usual but I got there in the end I've got a whole damn site to run and it drive me round the bend Welcome to Songstuff Welcome my Friend Welcome to Songstuff I get there in the end. You can have that one on @KenyonL and me, @john. 😉 👍
  7. Disconcertingly, I thought I had! 😮I'll check in the morning what I've done wrong. I have posted in 'showcase' but quickly realised my music is not up to snuff in there so confine myself to critique now. 😁 Already done:- - this was supposed to be a link to it not this big box thing - hopefully it works. I'd be delighted if you'd offer feedback. No one's listened to more than a few tracks so far so It'd be great to get an idea of the structure working/or not. For instance, the narrator in the first song does return, hopefully to quite powerful effect near the end, bookending the album and showing how far humanity has come. It's split into 3 acts of Invasion(1-8)/Occupation(8-14)/Rebellion(15-20) - once humanity has learnt it's lesson and is aided by the humble rats. The final act is by a distance the most 'listenable' as it is releasing the tension built over the preceding 2. The Battle Of Ratterton-on-Thames is very much the climax with the following songs tying up the themes/story. The hope is that by the end, the beginnings style and attitude don't just make sense, but feel necessary for the denouement. It's a very silly album with some very serious points to make. It's probably worth noting that track 2 is basically a 2 minute radio play but it's the only 'song' that does that. I appreciate I've banged on and obviously please feel under no obligation to follow up on this. Time is precious! 👍 CCB
  8. Cheers @VoiceEx By the way - I don't hang out here waiting to pounce on replies, I just happened to be 'welcoming' someone else when you posted! 😄 Seeing as this thread is unlikely to be read again I don't feel too bad about posting this here. It's from about midway through the album and is about an enslaved humanity considering fighting back. It's a sort of prog rock/pop/punk mash up and if it's not your cup of tea then I suspect the rest of the album isn't for you, as it were. 😁 It does contain a naughty word or two. The whole album is available on my SoundCloud - just a word of caution, it's written to work as a whole and the opening tracks are quite stodgy/oppressive for thematic purposes that hopefully pay off by the explosive end but they are more like watching the slow start to a 3 hr film than listening to pop music.🙂 I don't sell myself very well! 😁 All the best CCB
  9. Hi, @Peggy has kindly provided you the links. If you think you've nailed something, pop it in the showcase forum and if you want some opinions on how to nail something, as well as assurance on what your doing right, then the critique board is the best place. Be sure to read the guidelines at the top of each board before posting and remember that if you engage with other peoples work, they'll be more inclined to engage with yours. Everyone is very nice here and we're all on our different journeys towards perfection - some closer than others 😁. I know I'm one of the 'weaker' members but it's all about learning and as long as you have that attitude you'll be fine. By the way - to reply without quoting, just scroll down below the last comment and you should see the box in which to type. 🙂 CCB
  10. Hi @alphafight Welcome to the forum and cool profile pic. 👍 I hope to see you around. CCB
  11. I'm in the Forest of Dean these days but I'm from Bishops Stortford (some miles north of London - it's a dump). Have you stayed in the UK then? What part of the USA are you knocking around? A good place to start on the forum is give other peoples tracks a listen and let them know what you think, civilly of course. 😁It also buys a little goodwill your way for reciprocal feedback, when you come to post a track. I believe there is a 10 post minimum on posting a track but double check the guidelines before posting one to be sure. You can also read up the wealth of knowledge provided by the many talents that frequent these boards. Myself excluded! 😄 CCB
  12. Hi @KenyonL I thought I'd best say hi back before you 'pop off'. I look forward to seeing you around. CCB
  13. Hi Welcome to the forum. I've already heard one track so you're well on your way to settling in. 🙂 I hope to see and hear more from you. CCB

  15. Why howdy partner! Welcome @jwhardinesq to the forum. I look forward to seeing you around. Have a mosey about the town and share your wares when you have a good feeling about the place. Mind though, there's plenty of gun slinger's round these here parts... ... I've over done the western theme haven't I? 😁 CCB
  16. Sacré bleu! That's French for 'me too', right? 😁 Welcome @Brost Hope to see you kicking around. CCB
  17. Hi @KAITO Welcome to the site. I can't say I need sound files - too much choice is my problem! 😁 Hopefully someone else will find a good musical home for them. I hope to see you around. CCB
  18. A fascinating thread to read through. My two pennies worth: I have to ‘produce’ my own music due to no money and no one in their right mind taking me on. I’ve never enjoyed mixing/mastering. For some people it’s as creative as songwriting and good for them - horses courses and all that - but not for me. I find it tedious in the extreme and have only made 1 album I would say I did a genuinely good job on. It sucked all the joy out of the process however. There’s definitely a balance to strike for me. My latest album is definitely under produced. I’d never consider something I’ve made to be the finished article, as I know I’m just a hobbyist who is far too limited in ability. It’s all about the fun of creation for me. One day I’d like to point to something I’ve made and proudly say ‘I did that’ but as yet that day eludes me. I think most of the members of this forum are much more professionally minded and I’ll just try to absorb as much as I can from your experiences… like some manner of music leech. CCB
  19. Hi @Emanuel72 Welcome. What do you hope to achieve with your project? I look forward to seeing you around. CCB
