  1. Welcome to the forums bassistDutch :) Please take time to make your FIRST POST to introduce yourself to our community on our Introduce Yourself board

  2. We were just having fun with a member who broke our community rules by joining under two accounts and proceeded to talk to himself, as Aaryan and Muthuswami appear to be the same person. This is most commonly done by people signing up intending to spam at some point during their fake conversation. I think both Tom and I just thought we would have a little fun lol. Sad, I know!

We've been around since 2000, helping our fellow songwriters and musicians to develop their craft, and to aid them in any way that we can to progress their songwriting and music aspirations. Songstuff is one of the more active Songwriting and Music communities on the internet. We have over 12,500 members who come from a broad range of experience, from beginner to expert, amateur, semi-pro and pro. Our members are not just lyricists, songwriters and musicians. Our members include label owners and publishers, A&R people, managers, lawyers, pluggers, music marketers, recording engineers, music producers, production companies, session musicians, luthiers and other music instrument makers, gear manufacturers and much more. By being a member you get the opportunity to find out about things first, and you get access to information and features, including members only boards, that non-members just don't get access to. Active members get to enjoy the benefits of a friendly, informed community that is supportive of their needs. By taking part you begin to develop your own network of connections, build relationships with other writers and music professionals, and that is priceless. Active members can also be selected to have their works or their contribution to the community featured to all of our other members and to site visitors. This includes the possibility of being featured on our community forums, on our main site, in our newsletters and mailing list, and across our various portals on sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google + and SoundCloud. A recent addition to our community are the various Groups, for example the Weekly Lyrics Challenge group. These groups are for members, but also run by members. You can easily creat your own group for your own musical purpose. 15. Hi gang I thought it might be a good idea to start examining popular songs and discussing what works and why. To start us off I decided to post up "Let Her Go" by Passenger, one of the biggest songs in the last 12 months. If you are unfamiliar with the band I recommend having a listen to their material. They certainly demonstrate that perseverance is worthwhile. I will happily chime in on the debate but I would prefer it if someone else kicks off if only to hear other opinions rather than me offering an analysis which, while it may have it's place, gets a bit one sided, and variety and perspective are what helps keep it fresh and interesting. Cheers John
  16. In relating back my reply to Steve Fox I realised that I omitted to mention that although the UK does have intellectual property office that covers patents and trademarks, it does not cover copyright. They do provide links to ornament information about copyright but not to a copyright registration service. I just wanted to be clear.
  17. Well we may have confused many of our members during this conversation, but it reckon that, other than you or I, there is at least two other members who on his own now strongly suspects that he has been rumbled. Unless he is an idiot. It's not something we can answer for him. He'll need to ask himself about that. But wait! It's not just you and I in this conversation Tom. Let's ask Aaryan and Muthuswami... What do you think? I don't know about you, but I am certainly feeling a lot more connected to the topic than I thought I was. Even though this is a music site I certainly have surprised myself just how connected to music I am. It's a little academic though. Having asked myself over and over I have decided to ask someone else.

  19. Honestly it depends how strong my wifi signal is. Tom, both? I think you are talking to yourself on that one. The best place to learn music is always over academics. I make a point of practising an instrument on the balcony above my local student Cafe. A good pair of headphones certainly helps block out the sound of students eating spam fritters. They talk to themselves a lot too. Mindless chit chat that does nothing to help anyone. They think no one notices, but I do and it really puts me off.... But not s much as practicing over a normal Cafe with no academics in it. Mad? Probably too much coffee. You know, talking to yourself could just catch on as a trend Tom, you might just have hit on something... Ok, starter for ten... If you could ask yourself any question..... What would it be? Remember, although you have to ask yourself that question, you have to ask as if you are someone else and then in the next post answer it as yourself. or the other way around, I will leave the detail up to you. Lol extra points for style. Too sarcastic? Mwuahahahahaha
