  5. I am assuming you have Recycle installed and are using Rewire as the interface? I'm not a Reason or Recycle expert by any means.

  7. All's well that ends well yeah, 'twas me that mentioned common progressions and less common as part of a tool I was thinking of developing for Songstuff. Maybe. There are other product development priorities to consider.
  8. I will check out the account situ when I get back on my desktop. I'm on my ipad ATM which is great but not ideal for some things. I still speak to Donna on FB sometimes, but she spend most of her online time at a drumming forum these days I think. I am sure it's nothing against Songstuff, just a change in her focus of interest.
  9. Oh, have you tried combining Reason with Recycle?
  10. I think Kel meant the musical theory, not the programming side. I may be wrong. Yep OOD using OOP. LOL TLAs are a pain in proverbial, but at least faster to type. I agree no need to five into the programming detail. I just wondered what approach you would take. While I can understand that writing for a PC may be familiar I would think a mobile app would be the most useful, even one for tablets specifically. I mentioned an Air app, by that I mean Adobe Air. It would work on numerous platforms and on desktop using an Air framework. Stick a MySQL database on the back end and that would be it. If you can program basic, or C or C++ adobe air would be a breeze. There are also a ton of previously developed modules you could drop in. just an idea, and maybe taking you in a direction you don't want to go. Tis up to you Ah, replies crossing in the aether.
  11. Hi MrB for some reason I thought you had left deliberately and had asked for your account to be deleted? If you are the Mr B I am thinking of, that is. I can always check your account if you can send me a note of your previous email address in PM and if necessary merge it with this account. If deleted it is also possible that some of your posts could be recovered, though not your profile or PMs. Anyhow, welcome back stranger

  25. It has been pointed out that I dodged the actual question while tap dancing on my soap box (in the nicest yet accurate way!). Sooooo... Yes it would be refreshing in some ways. This would make it more about the song than the recording, although on a more negative note it would pretty well exclude electronica and many progressive songs that may need a larger wall of sound to carry them off. On a good note it means the judges compare songs where recording even for beginner writers should be affordable, and the differences between songs are greatly reduced leaving the judge to focus more on the song and less on the distractions of a lavish production It wouldn't appeal to me as this form of contest doesn't appeal to me full stop. No offence but it just doesn't do it for me. It is swings and roundabouts. It would certainly make the contest stand out from the others but where it gains in some ways it loses significantly in others.
