  3. Often musician's unions provide legal protection and advice. If you really can't afford a lawyer (can you really afford not to have an entertainments lawyer look at it?) then you should be able to get advice from them. Also possibly from some songwriter associations. You might find some on Songstuff who would be wiling to cast their eye over it. If they do their comments will have heavy disclaimers and I am sure they will recommend that you consult a lawyer officially.

  12. Hey I'm a musician and lyricist. Much depend on the type of song. Where the rhythm is an important factor (in say dance genres as an example) then I do sometimes write with the drum riff going in the background. Certainly I tap out a simple beat on a regular basis when writing lyrics. I normally write the melody first these days, so when I come to write the lyrics there is already a metre established. Yet again when it comes to writing the melody I write with at least tapping the beat or a drum pattern going.

  18. welcome to Songstuff There are a few advantages I can think of... no audio glitches being a big plus. Even easier if you can plig in a monitor or two and control it from a puter. portable and stable as a recording environment. you can still employ a good sound card for certain features such as a puter based sampler or synth big drawbacks are often they cannot be expanded and you can't slowly build a system as you can when a puter is the core... so a relatively high entry cost.
