  1. What way do you find most productive to start writing a song? Do you start with a song concept? Do you start with lyrics? Melody? Rhythm? 1/ lyrics 2/ rhythm 3/ melody 4/ chords Do you have a common way of developing your original idea? 1/ brain dump, 2/ edit 3/ research (google) this means checking dates, facts, details of subject matter. it can take hours 4/ go back to 1 & 2 then finish At what point do you start recording? i dont know how to
  2. brain dump & then edit i work hard on rhyme ideas. here is an example of a 'work in progress' that has lapsed fried bread & beans, you know what that means come on slowpoke, how’s it hanging? your out of your tree slowpoke, look see but not for ever -Elephant, relevant, malevolent, ?
  3. ha! sell out & go commercial lazz, wear a hoodie, buy some shades, grunt at everyone...
  4. Tel treats it like a joke because it is a joke. What do they want? sincerity? That would be bizarre.
  5. never did figure out digi-recording or posting up mp3s john. so no, that info is as relevant to me as a wagonload of monkeys.
  6. pretty good. maybe i better check em out. lost trailers eh? could give ivor cuttler a run for his money.
  7. dont know Twisted Sister. But heard of them through the movie 'Flight of the Navigator'. I'll ask around.
  8. ive lost all reason, and i dont see any reason why I should look for it now
  9. music is perceived differently now. kids are not interested in the artist as much (unless its a new heart throb thing) newspapers keep giving away cds with pop hits on them. who is encouraged to buy? disposable music is getting diposed much quicker now
  10. im old enough to remember when artists were `discovered' but they cut out the legwork now they are designed
  11. This wont stop until its the public up there with thier kareoke vocals and thier air guitar gymnastics, performing in front of a virtual audience. They nearly all want to be up there, and talent is a sidelined and perhaps soon, redundant quality.
  12. maybe they already are, and people just the focal point of a performer. DJs are already acting like they are responsible for the music they pass on. fantasy instruments: an anti stutter microphone please
  13. Tom, u were right. this is to do with smoking. it wasnt clear when i first read it. so dont nobody smoke while singing. and it were throat cancer sdj developed later on.
  14. when you know the notes to sing, you can sing most anything
  15. i read in a book ('the bad & the beautiful') about sammy davis jnr. it said that he had a technique where he would sing the note as he exhaled. i thought everybody did this. but apparently this is bad as it can burn out your voice box. nat king cole apparently warned sdj about this, but it didnt stop him. sdr did damage his voice later in his career too, although not permanently. anyone know anything about this sort of thing?
  16. the only way to stay in shape vocally is to shout and bawl a lot between gigs. your throat gets used to it and there is less chance of losing your voice when you need it. singers are usually noisey sods anyway. i dont know if smoking makes any difference
  17. i was nearly impressed then
  18. havnt seen these since then. is this for style or sound mainly?
  19. it going to be an olympic event in 2008
  20. a drummer subed with our group `the inlaws' last jan. he sped everything up and i couldnt keep up to sing fast enough. i was like a blabbering fool the whole night. i couldve killed him. not everyone noticed the difference tho.
