  1. Thanks Patchez. I didn't know who they were until this album I guess and to me it is interesting that while I really like them, I had no clue they were on this particular album until I found it again years later. I recall at a grade-school fair/picnic when I was young there was a balloon and dart game. I can't remember exactly what you had to do to win (i.e. how many popped balloons) but I came home with 5 albums that day and ABBAs greatest hits was one of them. For some reason I always thought that was the first time I really listened to them. Oh well, I guess my memory has always been pretty hazy. Thanks again for the comments. Much appreciated. Randy
  2. Thanks Cody. Somehow Dancing Queen still is my favorite. It's amazing I'm not sick of it. Yeah, the siren just felt appropriate considering the topic and all. Thanks again! Randy
  3. Quick backstory, the short version. There was an album I used to listen to when I was around 10 that I truly loved. I have thought of that album many, many times over the years but couldn’t remember the name of it, only remembering a few songs on it. About 2 months ago I found it on Youtube and to my surprise, it includes a few groups that I consider my biggest musical influences but I had not clue that they were on that album. I only remembered a few of the disco ones. So Cheap Trick was the biggest surprise but the next one, ABBA, was also on there and they are a major influence as well. So on that note I created this ABBA cover in honor of them, the album and just music in general. Here’s the link to the actual album from 1979 on YouTube. Starflight 1979 FYI - I'm posting Soundcloud and YouTube versions so I can hear the difference.

  16. Could be a lack of confidence and the unknown of how people will really react to them? It also could be that they're afraid of the DAW but I'd put that lower on the list. Maybe they just don't have the gumption to do it. Also, it's very easy to start something then get distracted by the phone or internet and end up getting nothing done. Millions of people do that every day. By the time they get done checking their phones and starting something and checking then going somewhere and checking their phone, then checking when they get back to the car, they are mentally exhausted without really doing anything productive at all. But the brain's been working overtime with all the checking and the ADD that comes with it. As to the question, I kind of had to. It got to a point back in 09 that I just kept getting song after song in my head and once I realized I could record them on my computer I couldn't not do it.
  17. Just trying to resuscitate this thread with a band I've really been enjoying lately. Great Van Fleet - Highway Tune
  18. I've noticed that sometimes when you click to come to this post it takes you to the last page, sometimes it takes you to the page right before the last page. I myself am guilty of seeing the last post on the page, responding to it, and then realizing later that I wasn't on the last page. I think Rob is the one doing it. He's tricky that one.
  19. Thanks Rudi! Great DAW. I had a little troubles getting all my plug-ins to work and still having trouble getting my plugged-in guitar to sound like anything other than a pan flute. But I can overlook those small things just based on the raw power and resolution alone. It's got a great export to youtube.eps feature that I don't think anyone will ever be able to best.
  20. I started with Garageband as soon as I heard I could actually make songs with it because it was already on my computer and was free at the time. I think it's $6 for upgrades so that's good too. I've tried a few others, only actually getting close to finishing one, but the results were the same. Until I get better equipment going in, and a better room to record in, there's no real reason for me to switch as there are more options for me to use than I can handle, and have yet to hear about something I need that isn't already in Garageband. I think the tools I have are fine, but the understanding of how to use them is where I need to improve. The last thing is the interface, for me, couldn't be easier to understand and use. It's all what you're used to I reckon.
