Could be a lack of confidence and the unknown of how people will really react to them? It also could be that they're afraid of the DAW but I'd put that lower on the list. Maybe they just don't have the gumption to do it. Also, it's very easy to start something then get distracted by the phone or internet and end up getting nothing done. Millions of people do that every day. By the time they get done checking their phones and starting something and checking then going somewhere and checking their phone, then checking when they get back to the car, they are mentally exhausted without really doing anything productive at all. But the brain's been working overtime with all the checking and the ADD that comes with it.
As to the question, I kind of had to. It got to a point back in 09 that I just kept getting song after song in my head and once I realized I could record them on my computer I couldn't not do it.

Funny--no circuitous logic going on! I was responding to what I thought was the post immediately before mine, but my post was published after something that was unconnected and then the next post just picked up where I left off. I've seen that happen a few times where there doesn't appear to be a connection between posts and it ends up that thread was broken because of some glitch or delay in posting. Now there is a connection that comes to mind, but this isn't the explicit posting section :) ~T
I've noticed that sometimes when you click to come to this post it takes you to the last page, sometimes it takes you to the page right before the last page. I myself am guilty of seeing the last post on the page, responding to it, and then realizing later that I wasn't on the last page. I think Rob is the one doing it. He's tricky that one.

I use JACK
Thanks Rudi! Great DAW. I had a little troubles getting all my plug-ins to work and still having trouble getting my plugged-in guitar to sound like anything other than a pan flute. But I can overlook those small things just based on the raw power and resolution alone. It's got a great export to youtube.eps feature that I don't think anyone will ever be able to best.

I started with Garageband as soon as I heard I could actually make songs with it because it was already on my computer and was free at the time. I think it's $6 for upgrades so that's good too. I've tried a few others, only actually getting close to finishing one, but the results were the same. Until I get better equipment going in, and a better room to record in, there's no real reason for me to switch as there are more options for me to use than I can handle, and have yet to hear about something I need that isn't already in Garageband. I think the tools I have are fine, but the understanding of how to use them is where I need to improve. The last thing is the interface, for me, couldn't be easier to understand and use. It's all what you're used to I reckon.

What? retire?
LOL No. Just meant you learned something for the day, now you can relax and take it easy for the rest of the day. Aren't you already retired though? You definitely don't want to retire from being retired, unless you actually mean moving backwards and going back to work, which would be fine if that's what you want to do. Much more preferable than being retired from retirement.

?
Nope. You got me beat
Well, I just got back from the googles and it appears I've had bad info for quite a while. Until today I had heard that the original of Turning Japanese by the Vapors was about … well … similar to the Bishop -> Beat It connection. She bop is about the same thing, although at least I used to think it was, haven't checked on that one. But, I did just read my original thoughts on the Vapors tune is evidentially not about what I used to think it was about. Points rejected.
