Nope. You got me beat

Well, I just got back from the googles and it appears I've had bad info for quite a while. Until today I had heard that the original of Turning Japanese by the Vapors was about … well … similar to the Bishop -> Beat It connection. She bop is about the same thing, although at least I used to think it was, haven't checked on that one. But, I did just read my original thoughts on the Vapors tune is evidentially not about what I used to think it was about. Points rejected.

  2. What?? You don't have a flashlight clipped to the underside of your guitar?? LOL

I think I may take a drill to some of my picks to get better grip as an experiment. Again, nicely done. :thumbsup2:

  3. Very cool Rudi. So do the holes in the center help keep the pick from slipping around? I've found lately my pick seems to move and spin while I play it. Obviously I could give it a bit better grip, but I don't recall ever thinking about that years ago. Probably arthritis starting to set in or something. I could see the edges of the pick being very smooth and perfect while that middle area has some grit to it to help with slippage. Hell, maybe not too many people deal with that. Really cool as was the 4-sided one. Last question, how is the 4-corner pick holding up? Do you use it a lot?

  4. Good information Tim. I've thought about what I would need to do to get up on stage and play my tunes and I know I'd need help with some instruments and this would seem the direction go to. Unless I could get actual musicians to play with me. This will be a great reference.

This isn't only a thing for keyboard players. Remember vst and vsti are also loaded with bass and guitar programs. A guitarist could leave their heavy rig home and take a laptop or a portable hardware box and get great results.

This part makes me think that one day, when you go to a "concert", you'll look on stage and the band will look similar to this:

  5. I was lucky enough this year to live in the "zone of totality" for the eclipse. I set up multiple cameras to capture as much as I could. The batteries on the GoPro, which was directed towards the actual eclipse, died before the actual eclipse so I missed that. I had my camera in hand and did get a shot of the eclipse which is right in the middle of the video. I also had a camera up in the upstairs bathroom pointing down towards the pool just to video what we were doing. That camera is this video. Good times. Before the eclipse I heard there were people that traveled the world in search of eclipses because they thought it was worth it. I thought they were nuts. But, now I do plan to go to the next one since it will only be a few hours away. That's my backyard and my wife and I along with another couple we know through our kids and school. I like when the neighbor's chicken's start to crow. Adios.

  6. Hoping to get copyrights for 12-15 songs next week, purchase a mechanical license for one, and finally send 2 songs off to be mastered. Starting with 2, hope to get 5 or 6 for EP. Then shot that around until I can get a full 10-12 song CD or Vinyl. Something really makes me want to do vinyl.

Fingers crossed ... also gotta rake leaves and stuff.

  7. I guess my short intro-song I had planned to go on a CD would be a good start.

    Let me entertain you.
    Drop what's going on.
    Redirect attention.
    There's something new going on.

Turn me on. Turn me on.

I promise not to waste your time.
I promise that I'll waste your time.
I promise not to waste your time.

    V2
    How will I amaze you?
    What'll be the allure?
    Will I then contain you?
And keep you ... coming back for more.

Turn me on. Turn me on.

I promise not to waste your time.
I promise that I'll waste your time.
I promise not to waste your time.

I can never tell when we are all being satisfied with phoned in responses, or when we are trying to be clever again.

Sorry Rob, didn't mean to overtax your brain. Hopefully this one will be a bit easier.

The general idea that people move on because they moved up. Moved up to what? Why does that take them away from SS ?

I guess in the most basic terms … How often do you go and hang out at the college you attended, or high school? (only assuming you went) I view this place similar to an institution of learning. Not one you would live the rest of your life, unless you got a job here. Most people aspiring to be songwriters don't think, hmmm I need a forum to live out my days. They want to go to a place where people can hear their work and see how it flies with other people. Get an idea of how they are doing/are they good enough. Some are content just with that. Some want to stay and learn how they can improve. Still others are happy just posting their material and chatting. All perfectly fine reasons to be here. But for those with loftier goals, staying here (or on any songwriting/musician forum) shouldn't be as important of a goal as it is when a person first starts out on here.
