We're all wasted here!

Just as well there weren't 3 playing!
I used to dream of being in a threesome...

Thanks. It's always difficult putting colour to a B&W original.

Watercolour. By pure coincidence, I once lent a book from the library, of old Bristol, whence I came across a picture that I then painted in watercolours!
Here it is! Hanging on my lounge wall.
This was in 1993. Despite several efforts to find that volume again, I never did! Then, just about a week ago, whilst browsing for something entirely different! I came across this! This picture has more info than the one I had. i.e. the street to the right is more visible!

well i tend to change my strings one a month and give it a clean tighten anything that requires it oh and keep other people away from it
I change my strings regularly. About once a year.....
and never play it! stays in great nick that way!

Hmm. From what I've read, having an external audio port could be very useful if you wanted to go to a friends house and keep the same source! USB2 is pretty standard these days! Turn up with a small box and plug it in! Sounds like it could be useful. The external boxes are slightly more expensive than the internal equivelant!
-
More info needed from you lovely boys and girls! I have been scouting around for a new soundcard, and I notice a propensity of external audio sources. These all seem to plug into the usb port, or in a few cases ie1394. Anybody any experience or knowledge of these external units? Pros' cons'?
-
Thanks Retro.I don't play games, I leave that for real life! I probably will get a card eventually, but I want a decent soundcard first!
-
Thanks boys!
Armed with this info, I might hold off on the grafix card and plunge headlong into a new Sound card!
-
Believe me, I've tried everything I know, and a few things I didn't know!
-
What's the crash?
Just reboots the computer!
-
Does the onboard graphics use up much of the system resources?
-
I have come to the conclusion that my Old card is fried! I cannot get it to work! I thought it was to do with WinXP, but I have spoken to a guy who is selling one on eBay, and he says his works fine in XP.
Fikuct! Anagram

I've just bought a new PC but it doesn't have a Graphics Card. How important is it to have one? I know it works fine with the onboard graphics, but I'm not sure if I should invest in a seperate Graphics Card? What are the benifits? Anybody?

Ha ha! Thanks Amanda! That's brilliant!

In my younger days, I used to help out at the local music emporium. One day, we had a guy in who wanted a cheap guitar to learn to play. So the gaffer sold him quite a nice cheapy guitar and a lead (which he asked for), when he inspected the lead, he asked if he could have a different plug on the other end? Slightly confused, we asked him what kind of plug? And what was he plugging it in to? He wanted a 13 amp plug to plug into the main!
It took some persuading to stop him going down that road! He wasn't the brightest button in the box...

I just purchased the following:
New mother board DDR2 800 MHz
Intel Core 2 Duo
2 Gb fast ddr2 800 MHz dimms (4:4:4)
A nice big juicy fan
£310
I just bought the same for £246. with case and 2 Sata hard drives.
-
Thanks for that! Still not having it! When I upgrade, it still crashes!
-
I have an old Yamaha SW1000XG soundcard. Pretty cutting edge in it's day! But I can't get it to work under win XP. I've downloaded a driver but it crashes my computer when I try to install it. Any ideas anybody?
-
What happened? Did you get any info?
-
M-audio are pretty awesome, I bought one when I thought I could be arsed with recording through it, but as I can;t afford any other recording gubbins, it kinda failed apart from one or two random failed attempts... Might be selling mine if you're interested?! Especially as it doesn't do the whole MIDI thing, which is actually what I need more than recording functionality at the moment...
Any tips on a decent soundcard for MIDI?
Rohan
I might be interested in that! What do you want for it? Do you smoke?
-
that's exactly my problem, I don't think in tunes... so 'just hum a tune' to me just turns into humming songs by other people... making songs in my head is all chords and bass and drums... no melody seems to occur... Am i just broken? Maybe I should just find myself a singer?!
Rohan
OK try to get a tune you like by somebody else. See if you can write out the chords and the notes of the melody. Then mix up the notes of the melody! I saw a violinist do this with some Bach. He wrote out the bars of music, then actually cut them up into seperate bars and changed them around. It sounded pretty cool!
Two birds with one stone like that!Bring these two with you when you're down this way next! We'll have a night out!
