Here we go then! Two verses and a chorus!
I'm in England I'm alright
got no anthem, what a plight!
Global warming what a laff
Not for me boy, I'm not daft!
Green and pleasant, not round 'ere
Concrete jungles soon appear
Wales is where I want to be,
Or the highlands, might suit me!

England England please consider
Sold out to the highest bidder
What you see is what you get
Gordons dropped us deep in debt.
No tune yet.

Hey
Considering a current topic about the English national anthem (which there isn't, only a British one), I thought we could have an informal lyric competition.
The challenge is to write the lyrics for an English anthem, to the tune of "Nellie the Elephant".
Any takers?
Cheers
john
We could call it 'Wembley The Elephant'...

I wonder what they could put this into?

Yes. Very clever noise!

There is a lovely song by Alison Moyet called 'This House' The guitar solo is stunning! It's one of the most unusual solos' I've ever heard. She later re-recorded the song, but without the solo!

Taupeware?
I think I attended one of their parties once...?

I bought that book! I found it OK. But I have a Les Paul which has a fairly short scale length. I did struggle with a few of the seven finger chords.....
-
Maybe they should consider a name change? 'Creamware' never really caught my attention as a serious product!

It's a good article. Lots of sensible but not always obvious ideas. I'm off for another read and to make some notes!

Fantastic!

Shame about all the chat!

'm on a mission!
Impossible.

I think there are some who would perhaps like to critique more, but find it difficult to express in words, what they may feel about a particular piece of work! Myself included. I have read lyrics and listened to music and have sat poised to respond, only to falter at how to describe my feelings for that particular piece of work! Or sometimes, I may feel like responding only to find that others have responded in a similar vein to the line I would have taken, thus rendering any critique I may have, completely void! After all, we're not all great writers!

Does anyone else think that Lennons grammar is not like what ours is?

Don't worry Rude! They don't have your address.

Ahhhhh! I see it all now! Some of it...

I love this song, and most of all the other songs I've listened to.
