  1. ok....

    I'd like to suggest a poll. :P

As long as there's no dancing! I hate poll dancing...

Notice the deadline of Dec. 15th... sorry but a little too late :(

I was too busy to record anything! Last evening was the first quiet time I've had!

Besides which! I haven't been able to play my guitar for weeks due to hand injuries!

(I'm going for the sympathy vote now!) :)

  2. Try to record yourself at all times. Sometimes when you play it back, it sounds totally different! Melody is the key. If you have a strong melody, it matters not what the instrument underneath is. Every song I ever wrote always sounded like something else to me! :)

  3. A very good pianist I once met told me you could find the key of vitually any song quite simply by finding the third note of the melody! That will give you the root! You should be able to decide if it's a major or minor key! This has saved my bacon a few times when depping with bands!

  4. I agree with Lazz. I have heard many songs with a good hook, but I've had no idea what the song is about! The initial 'feel' of a song can make or break it. I often think that the 'sound' of a lyric is often as important as the actual words themselves. My mind is a blank at the moment so denying me supplying any suitable example! Billy Connoly did a very funny skit about the typical pub singer. Somebody who knows no words of the song except the last line of each verse and the chorus!

    "Hadaweeeeeeee

    Fordagaaaaayyyyy

    wadabeeeeeeeaaa

    I love you!"

    All being greatly exagerated!

By sustaining the last sylables with what sounds like the correct words, the pub singer can sing any song!

  5. Hey D* I may have some kits for this somewhere! I used to buy computer music regularly and I seem to remember them putting out some kits on the disk. I'll see what I can dig up!

:-[ Don't have any Led Zep unfortuanatley.

    D*

    :o What!

  6. Here we are then! This is my baby. I've had this guitar for over 30 years. I had originally bought a Fender Telecaster that was frankly, a piece of firewood! So I managed to do a swap at a local music store for this Antoria Les Paul and an accoustic. The only improvements made to this guitar were a new set of machine heads and the addition of the Gibson pickup, which was given to me by a friend. Oh I also stoned the frets due to a few uneven ones. It plays superbly! Much better than any Gibson I've ever played. (And I've had a few in my hands) and I would never part with it! I love it! :)

  7. The technology has moulded my way of working!

That's an interesting point! I remember I used to just pick up my accoustic and write. Had to remember everything. When I finaly got hold of a 4 track, my writing changed considerably. I would spend hours programming the drum machine and writing the parts out on manusript in the relevant bars. Now with the computer, I write differently again! Never really thought about it before...

  8. What's the news then? Any good?

I need to get another motherboard. The one I bought last year (PC chipsK7 FSB400) Is just not doing it for me!It won't recognise my Yamaha SW1000XG soundcard. I think this may be one of the reasons I haven't done any music fopr a long time!

  9. not possible to have used 160 gigabites in 2 months. not for me at least. and yes i did check everything elce, twice, then again, then again and again and again.

Yes but did you double check it again? :)

I'd send it back to Dell and get them to look at it. Another option is to format the drive and reload windows. Start from scratch. If you still have problems, it's got to be a hardware fault!
