  1. try +2.5db at 2khz and +2.5 db at 12khz - boost a bit at 200-300 hz as well - cutoff at 150

2khz for clarity (most speech information lies here)

    12khz for air.

    200-300hz for body

If you can get your hands on a LA2A compressor plugin and a pultec eq plugin, you will find it almost magically brings some color and presence to the vocals.

Thanks boys. :) I'm gonna play about with some of this stuff on my older songs. See what happens.

  2. I have actually been scanning the EQ guide. Found it looking through the list of articles. It makes a lot of sense. In this instance however, I'm not the one mixing the track. Although, it must be faily ok, I've been asked to sing three more tracks for somebody else now...? Looks like I'm getting my muse back in a roundabout way...! ^_^

  3. I wasn't aware that there was a Sennheiser B1 microphone. I know Behringer make a B1 condenser microphone which is pretty decent, but I don't know about the Sennheiser. I have Sennheiser 595 headphones, so I am familiar with the brand!

:) Yeah. That's what I meant... A Behringer B1. I use a sennheiser mixer. Must have been looking at that when I wrote that post! ^_^

  4. :) I'm looking for some guidance on recording vocals. I was listening to somebody elses vocal and it struck me that they were much more clearly defined!. I think I have a pretty good mic (Sennheiser B1). But I wonder if I have the right settings for recording. Or if I just need to 'mix' the recording differently?
  5. I once went to see a band where they had a drunk heckler. The singer/front man was very good, but the guy just kept going at them. Eventually, he was invited on stage to sing a song. I can't remember the song they played, but it was rearranged so nothing was where it should have been. And there were two places in the song where they played a 3/4 instead of the usuall 4/4. The heckler gave it his best shot but looked like a complete pratt and was booed off the stage! It was priceless! Can't remember the song!

  6. That was pretty impressive! Great work with light and shadow, and I was very impressed with the foliage! It's moved on since I was dabbling with 3d studio Max! I'll try and dig out something I did about 10 years ago. Took me months to do, mainly because I was trying to learn the program as I went along. I'll have a dig about.

  7. I've collaborated on several songs with different people. I'm not sure how to gauge that in terms of success, because had I not collaborated, I probably would not have written anything at all! So in that respect, it has produced something! My collaborees (?) appeared to have been quite happy with what I've turned out! even though there were some major changes to lyrics to accomodate a melody line. So in all, I think collaborations are a good thing!

  8. I heard that Cowel was furious! Not really sure why? I suppose it just proves that he's not the God he thinks he is? I also heard that he admited that there were probably quite a lot of people that didn't watch X factor...? Pompous twit! Just for that statement alone, I'm glad that Rage against the Machine beat him to it!
