what for you makes the diff between a good vocal and a bad vocal?

Or, more seriously, it generally comes down to whether the style fits the music or not, because in the right context I think I like ALL vocal styles and sounds, even going slightly off key sounds fine if it's in a heavy punk song!

Although the expression of emotion is probably the main thing I look for in a voice (after the given of "being in tune") that is my taste. Similarly I'd also say that a good vocal is not the same as a good voice.

I think the difference for me is... it has to be appropriate and convincing. No matter what you do. Not all music requires a flawless voice with a massive range and power enough to level a house.

Lol, me too... Started with II, and am trying to get hold of a copy again (I lost mine years ago ). And am waiting for III to arrive in the post... I only remembered I had IV a month or so ago...
