Hello all!

I am glad to find this forum.

I am from Greece, i am a musicologist (writing my dissertation right now...) and i play the guitar, the piano and a little mandolin.

I like a lot music technology and sound design. I'm also very interested in music cognition and psychology of music in general.

That's all! :D

As a huge fan of Markos Vamvakaris and Jazzy Lemounopoulis and Apostolos Nikolaidis (sometimes seems most significant artists are dead), I hereby agree to participate.

Whereabouts in Greece ?

See you in the bar.

I love rembetika.

I love soul music of every persuasion.

Thessaloniki is very hip.

I like further north also into Macedonia.

Where the wine gets better and the music gets wilder.

I understand that there is some dispute over the "correct" use of the name.

And I think I understand that state governments prefer to suppress any possible notions of seperate sovereignty.

At least - I think that's what is going on here - illuminated by recent Balkan history.

But for me, a stranger stepping out into north Salonica and on to hanging around Naoussa, it was much less another country than it was another culture that I was brushing up against. It was northern Greece, there were mountains and villages, life was simple, rustic, there were Rom, and the music sounded as if it had reached from across different borders and tribes. It had a different, identifiable soul. To me, it felt like this must be Macedonia. Nobody contradicted me.

I hope I cause no offense.

What is F.Y.R.O.M. ?
