We set a theme, post up your entry. Entries close on 20th of each month at that point the poll will be added. That leaves 10 days or so for voting before the poll closes 1st of the month.

Okay, I'll start. I wrote this one in about 10 minutes and you're likely getting what you're paying for.

ABANDONED ICONS

v1:

The 5 o'clock news said

Another legend is dead.

Seems so long since I heard the name.

I remember the things he did,

Sold millions of records and then hid.

Was his private life or his public to blame?

Chorus:

The icons we forget

The ones that served us well

Forgotten favorites of the past

Time won't release us from their spell.

I used to always click

This picture very quick

Whenever I would turn my PC on.

Why did I ever quit?

That program was such a hit,

But upgrades made it useless so it may as well be gone.

But a visit to yesterday might be great.

Nostalgia is a grand trip and of course it's free,

To see again those things cast in the dustbin of fate.

just wrote this in about 10mins hope you like it, i know its not perfect but i have just finished an 8hour night shift and i honestly couldnt think of any true abandoned icons that are worth remembering except maybe Rick James. I hope forgotten and abandoned is close enough for you

Full of tiny posters of double tap magic

Storing information I don’t want to remember

Open inspiration at the tip of my finger

Mac attack whack attack reboot DANGER

Hi Ho Silver and Microsoft Ranger

Digital flashbulb, you can toss the Nikon

Abandon the picture or abandon the icon

Three and you’re out, yea the big slugger whiffed it

That was real life, not computer game gimmicks

Go play in the traffic, I don’t care if you biff it

Get off your ass kid, get hit with some real kicks

Empty the backpack at the base of the Tetons

Abandon the trail or abandon the icons

Who needs erasers, pens and pencils

Gimme’ Word perfect and a million pixels

Write me a program to replace my existal

Wanna’ see if spell check’ll survive my pistol

Double circle cross hair, drop my sight on

All hands stand clear, abandon the icon
