The Waterfall

[Darmin Deflern]

I used to use chat a fair bit back in the day and used to say that I could write poems for people if they wished. Someone there said she was currently painting a waterfall and would like a short poem or piece of prose she could add in on the canvas. This is what I came up with:

The Waterfall (copyright Darmin De'flern)

Sparkling water, an unending cascade

Leaping over the precipice to fall

Slowly gliding through the air

A shimmering blue white curtain

Shrouded in mist

A roar greets its eternal decent

As it joins the stormy white cloud

Then a resting place where the moss grows

Before its journey anew it begins

Babbling its sweet tune

This is what I came up with and it wasn't easy to put what you find beautiful about a waterfall visually into words.

Thank you lots of optical illusions when looking at a waterfall like slow falling water, sometimes even the feeling that the water goes up etc so it was a real challenge to right.

Food for the imagination, for sure. I have only seen one waterfall. Athebasca falls in Canada. Incredible.
