  1. Hi Phil, Enjoy the forums here! There are many of us looking to collaborate and grow in this business. See you on the boards, Lisa
  2. Ha Ha Timbre! You guessed correctly! I got lost though and forgot to keep the Old grouch going... And I notoriously use the exclamation point too much! See!! I can't stop!! LOL Thank you for catching my favorite line about the Digital native in a Holy land. PPlaid has made some great suggestions below. I think that I'll keep most of them.
  3. Most awesome suggestions! I'm in this frame of mind right now to shorten all my lines and forget that it's ok to write normal phrases. Thank you!!
  4. A customer gave me Orchids today! What a surprise :hearts:

  5. Hi There GuesSs! Glad you found Songstuff! Yes, you've come to the right place. We love music here lol! See you on the boards, Lisa
  6. Hey Symph! Nice see your name popping back up. I like this. God has a way of helping when you ask (and sometimes when you don't ask too!) I don't do mixes but can relate this to my songwriting on many of the points you've brought up here. Fear, striving for perfection, writing from the heart, knowing when to quit, being honest, and always grow and learn! See you around! Lisa
  7. Hey There BigN! Thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself. Sounds like you've done some travelling (which makes for great stories/songs!) I love that your favorite artists are new and old! I hope you enjoy the site :-) All the best, Lisa
  8. Hi ND! This is very deep. It reads more like a poem to me right now. The line "oh light where are you" has me spouting Shakespeare in my head "Oh Romeo where art tho" in a fun kind of way. If you titled this "Hoping to reach the light" and added this line as a refrain throughout the song it would give it better structure in my opinion. I also like the hopefulness of this line and since you repeated it twice it would lend itself to be the refrain. Glad you're here! I love these challenges and hope you do too!! Lisa
  9. Just a start: The Young Will Steer the Old There's a typewriter collecting dust This young man thinks he will teach us Old guys, new tricks Humph! don't think they mix He grew up a cellphone in his hand Digital native in Holy land Young man, cool life Looking through clear eyes It's a strange twist of fate How life ends up like this Faster than a blink Smarter than you think As you look, behold! the young will steer the old Driving down the streets I thought I'd teach Younger ones see a two way street Wise men lecture Childish adventure It's a strange twist of fate How life ends up like this Faster than a blink Smarter than you think As you look, behold! the young will steer the old Clear as a bell Muddy waters never tell Where they came from, where they're going to Guided by technology To succeed in society It's a strange twist of fate How life ends up like this Faster than a blink Smarter than you think As you look, behold! the young will steer the old

  15. Hamzi! Welcome to Songstuff! How cool that you already have found we have a lot to offer. Have a great time here ;-) Be Well, Lisa
  16. Hi Yves, Thanks for taking a listen. The reason the vocals come in so quickly is because we are going to pitch this to a TV producer. The goal is to grab his/her attention. If we wait too long to get to the vocals he/she may have already moved on in haste. They listen to tons of music every day and don't have the luxury of waiting to see if a song has anything good to offer. If it doesn't grab them from the start they have to say "NEXT!" I suspect if this makes it on to a show, the intro can be adjusted accordingly. I like your idea of bringing the bass line more to the front. I think it is solid and most people listen for it. Thanks again! Lisa
  17. I've written some lyrics and actually had a melody come to me while writing them. Someone I met on Facebook liked it enough to put some music to it. Then he had a singer record it. (she sang it exactly the way I did, so I think it's a compliment.) I'd like your opinion on it. I don't like critique with both barrels though, just the truth. Thanx Here are the lyrics: One good girl Has good boys Raises them right Workin through school Shots fired Wrong wrong Taken We hear sirens Watch the news Can’t believe No tomorrow We grieve Gone gone Taken Taken too young Her dreams are done So many songs left unsung tell me who won? Won this damn war Not like before Riot back and forth swing open the door stop it don’t ignore don’t ignore Taken Taken Taken too young Her dreams are done So many songs left unsung Taken Taken Taken 5-9-17.mp3
  18. Hi ya David, Good point. I was wondering what the drab feeling of the song was and I think the chorus is it. Thanks for the half a barrel... you're so good to me!

Finally! I cleared the History cache and rebooted my poor computer. Now I'm back to English! whew! Thanks so much!

  24. Well Dave, I'm glad you love it. I was hoping that the 70's feel might translate into a modern feel if we had a talking/rap part. This song has a purpose so I appreciate your honesty with it. Neighbor!! Maybe if I get out of work on time, I can come see you again! :-)
  25. Ah yes, I see your point. It is out of my control. I forgot that SM Techs are sneaky bastards. I have yet to figure out what's in it for them but my common psychopathy syndrome may not want to know. For now, I'll just not let it affect me. I have in the past told at myself to "just put the phone down!"(my email, FB, and Twitter are all on it) I've even taken to turning it off in the evenings... Be proud of me David!
