  1. What guitar solos do you dislike? It doesnt have to be technically bad, in fact it might be technically demanding. Or even someone you like who for some reason utterly failed to nail it on a particular recording. You dont have to justify it. Just identify what you dislike. Heres mine:- Dreaming of You: Bill Ryder-Jones (The Coral) All You Need Is Love: George Harrison (Beatles) The Back Woods Song: John Abercrombie (Abercrombie, Holland, DeJohnette)
  2. Hi DeRose, Wecome to SS Im not in the least jaded. Nor am I am entertainer (thats the singers job )

  5. Welcome indeed. BTW I'd love to have a go at your job. Rudi Portsmouth UK
  6. I have been after a Spanish guitar for ages. The nearest 'good' ones were as far afield as Birmingham or Manchester. I bought this 'cheap' one locally at a tenth of the price I was expecting to pay. It is a bit of a bitch to play, but it has a lovely sound, fuller and louder even than 2 Rodriguez models at hand. http://www.247guitar.com/products/CampsM6S...6S.jpg_full.jpg I may upgrade later, but am enjoying this one at present. The model is a Camps M6S. Its a small guitar. I also got a Hiscox case to keep it in.
  7. Hey John, Im writing one too. Some of my instrumentals dont have names. Lots of them are in flux anyway and havnt been finished. My oldest proper instrumental is called FLAMINGO which is a play on words because it has several flamenco techniques used within it. Oddly enough, I am working on a companion piece for FLAMINGO at the moment because I have at last bought a classical guitar & so am trotting out all those psuedo-spanish ideas I have had over the years. Working titles for the bits that I am adding are such inspired names as LINK-LASH Amin 3, and LASH Amin 3 TS-6. Catchy eh? Hope you are enjoying the challenge. Good luck.
  8. No Al, your as safe as houses! I no longer listen to the radio.
  9. I Got Rhythm - George & Ira Gershwin.
  10. How does Nellie the Elephant go? Ive never heard of it. Got a link?
  11. Hello Arifah, Yes, as been said, a fine introduction. Welcome. Where are you based?
  12. I knew someone who was rather too inspired by songs he liked. More than once he would introduce a song he had just written & later we would hear something oddly similar on the radio.

    Hi

Hi Karen, Dont worry, there are no musical snobs here. We shot the last one 3 years ago, and the word must have got out coz we havnt been bothered since. Starting out can be fun too. Plenty of sound advice here. Ask if you cant find what you want. Rudi Portsmouth UK
  16. Hi Joe, Welcome from Portsmouth UK I have long thought that the lyrics posted here at SS are of excellent standard. If you have the patience to check through the work of various contributors, I fell sure you will find gold in there. The music writings PDG too. The moderators are no doubt playing truant and hiding easter eggs etc at the mo, but they'll be around in a bit Rudi

    Good Fiddler...

Sadly no. The problem was that in my enthusiasm I started to neglect my guitar playing. It became a problem the day I realised that my guitar playing had suffered seriously. I don’t exaggerate when I say this came as a shock. There were too many things that I was struggling to remember. As a result I stopped playing the fiddle completely. Now I have no idea what to do about it. At some stage I must pick it up again and decide whether I want to keep it or not. If I do it will be to just learn a couple of things parrot fashion, ie: limit my ambitions for it. What I liked about the fiddle was that as soon as I learned a G major scale, I really could just pick up simple tunes and play by ear easily. I never expected that to happen so quickly.

  20. Well, they didnt want Waltzing Matilda, so that must be still up for grabs.
  21. Not a bad idea, but I dont know what its called either. Ermm.... Ten Green Bottles maybe? a bit long I know.
  22. What are they stirring though? I object to Jerusalem for its divisive credo, and Land of Hope and Glory as being embarrassingly imperialistic and disrespectful to Edward Elgar’s original Pomp & Circumstance theme. Match of the Day has a certain claim in that it represents a nation overrun with mindless football thugs, but I would rather try to live that down than play up to it.
  23. Positive, but you can pay the license fee if you think so much of them. I'll have to start paying it again in October, and I dont even watch the sodding BBC.
