  1. I liked Warren, but couldn't describe myself as a fan. Good link, I learned a thing or two.
  2. Neighbourhood - Space Blown Out cover this, but ours has become very different and ska-like.

Due to a writing block problem, I need to go about it with a different approach. I am beginning with rhythm, or will be later today. The rhythm will need to be strong enough to provide its own momentum, or a 'groove' if you like. Part of the present block is to do with lyrics. Lyrics of late have become a mire of possibilities with no clear paths. I will be leaving lyrics to the end, as I used to many ears ago. I will worry about those when the time comes. Anyone else ever work this way?
  4. Excellent idea. Why wasnt it there already?
  5. About your laptop. Have you considered the use of polarizing sunglasses? If so, you could try that out beforehand. http://www.imore.com/ipad-direct-sunlight
  6. I imagine you have at least 30 minutes there. With spaces in between, 35 minutes. If you are performing for more than 90 minutes, some or all of these could be done again. After all, you will almost certainly have different traffic passing by then. It sounds unrealistic to extend this solo method to stuff you still have to learn/arrange. I know its time consuming. It takes a high level of concentration to learn and to perform. Also, I am sure you're aware that if you find it a struggle to do newer stuff at home, it will be twice as hard in a performing environment. That's why some simple improvisation over a riff (ie: looper) could be your salvation. By simple I mean modal.
  7. You might regret not taking the opportunity. How long have you got before the gig? How long are you expected to play? Why not just select those tunes (however few) you are confident with & stick to those? If you need more, can you use a backing track or two? Or perhaps noodle over a looper? Is BIAB any use there?
  8. Hey there Matt, I give in. I'm not seeing a connection? Set me straight...
  9. With 1 post, you wont have posted up any lyrics. Lets have a look at your words. People here are encouraging & I like weird lyrics anyway.
  10. I'm aware that improvements have been made. I am comparing (unfairly) this to my experience of using Boss/Rowland synths which I cannot use for that reason. So it sounds as if you experience none of this when listening. PS I could have bought the Pod 500HD (and still would) if I thought it would give me an edge. The 300 version is awkward to use because the switches are 'doubled up' for too many functions. At the time, the 400 seemed like a less complex unit for my needs.
  11. ok That makes more sense. In that case using the piezo pickup only would be the 'purest' signal (for emulation). I'm interested in your perceptions of signal lag. Is there any?
  12. Wish I could hear those sounds. That's a result !
  13. Although we're all different in our preferences & tastes, we also get accustomed to what we use. I said a long while ago that I struggled to use a Gibson/Epiphone style neck. Not just because of the scale, but the necks are narrower than I like. Last year I took the plunge and got one. Obviously, to warrant buying, I had to be pretty sure I could get used to it. I just seem to be more adaptable than I used to. Now I decided last week that I would use the ES-339 for the next 2 gigs, so I started using it for practice. I became much more confident and fluid in my playing than I had been before on that guitar. I had played it ok before, but this time the scale & width was feeling 'right'. In fact, when I briefly picked up a different guitar, it felt quite odd. The point being that now, after about a year, I now feel fully at ease & completely comfortable with this type of neck. The first of those gigs is tonight, the 2nd is next Friday. Hopefully you'll adapt to your new neck too.
  14. That is a poor oversight do omit the battery. Surely its part of the kit? At least the Pacifica sounds like it's ok which is the main thing. I know you like your action low. How are you with thick necks? I used to hate them. Now I quite like them. Yes I have had to install the Line 6 Monkey too. I was pretty nervous about it at the time. I dont have have your PC savvy. I had a jangley 12 string patch on my Boss GT5. I used to play 'Here Comes the Sun' using it.

I'm still waiting on Jiamie (the Creamery fellow) to respond to a question. I know form other interested parties that this can take a while. He's obviously busy. Jaime already said that the Domino Split Coils were more like a Fender single coil sound. This would be enough to sway me, but the output seems much higher. That may only be because of the way its configured though. I just dont know! Yes Lollar and Kent Armstrong are always going to be on any shortlist.
  16. I have nothing to offer to the discussion here guys, but I have followed with interest. I am not anywhere near in the same league as Tom or Mahesh as a singer, but I persevere for some weird reason (stubbornness?)

I have now gigged the Elite with both Blown Out and with Vinyl Frontiers. It did well. I used the Fender Stage amp + POD HD400 with Blown Out, and the small Fishman LoudBox Artist amp with VF. The LoudBox is a small amp for acoustic guitars. I was also using it at very low volume. So I got as clean a signal as it was possible to get really. It proved what I suspected with the full size rig; that the Duncan Designed pickups are a little rich for my taste. I don’t know what the output is, but its ‘hot’. So I am researching alternative pickups. Here are 2 from the Creamery here in the UK. I’m considering the Domino Split Coils: http://www.creamery-pickups.co.uk/custom-handwound-pickups-from-the-creamery/domino-split-coil-single-coil-voiced-humbuckers.html and this, Classic Black Cat: http://www.creamery-pickups.co.uk/custom-handwound-pickups-from-the-creamery/black-cat-humbucker-sized-filtertron-style-pickups.html

  19. Wow Rob, You certainly rise to the occasion
  20. I predict that within a year from now, no one will be using paper £5 notes
  21. there's a 2nd coming every few months. Its not even news anymore. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_claimed_to_be_Jesus
