  1. you sure you aren't in key of "D" You have a major flat 7th and a 2nd 7th along with a 5th and root 7th. All common chords in a key of "D" If the ending note on the E7th chord is a "D" then I'm willing to bet your in key of "D". If you were in key of Am the A D and E chords should be Minor Not Major.
  2. Write the worst song possible and then turn it into a computer virus that makes it play through the users computer speakers 24/7 when their computer is running with no option to turn it off. Have them pay you $10 via money gram to make the music stop. You will be rich in no time or arrested not sure which though!!
  3. I great stage name is Al Coholic and for a band you could be Al Coholic and the drunks featuring Ben Drinkin, Ivanna Beer, Sam Ashed, DR. unk, and willy drunk
  4. Hello just updated my profile I had no idea I was a male in afganistan living in a cave writing songs in english??!! definatly not me. I am from NW FL near panama city just doing what I do best and hope one it will make me money. I also the first post never showed up for me hence why I reposted it.
  5. No I have not entered any songs in contest before. They only way I figured that the billboard contest is done is that the link to their site is down and googling them brings up nothing. Everything else I know is from looking at the contests sites. I hope full arangements don't work against me because I was hoping to show who ever is listening that I am the full package. I write the songs words and music, I play ALL the instruments , I sing, I record, I mix, I produce, I master, I do it all!!
  6. Thanks for the reply, I was thinking of entering the mountain stage new song contest as this has produced some big names I have heard of and seems to be more americana (folk/ country/ bluegrass/ blues) oriented so I think I may do better there. Is the billboard contest even in existance any more? and How the does the great american song contest draw "huge" numbers? They claim they only let in 5,000 entries??
  7. Hello If you were going to enter a song writing contest which one would you enter? I am an americana song writer (folk/ country/ bluegrass/ blues) and do not really care about cash prizes I would rather have my song heard by big names. I saw these from ascap here ( The ASCAP Resource Guide: Songwriting Competitions) and they all seem to be legit but they all have wildly different prizes and judges? Have any of you entered any of these? I would like my songs heard by some medium/ big names in the business. I also I do not care about the cost of entering and will enter at least 15 songs in which ever one I enter unless you think it would be better to enter less songs but do more different competitions. Let me know your opinions. Thanks Macmanmatty
  8. he him self is most likely a beginner and is using that g shape because it very easy to move from his g to his c
  9. You are correct about the c chord he also breifly refers to it as a Cadd9 chord. Sorry buddy it ain't that one either. There is no 7th (Bb in key of C so a Bb on a 7th C chord). All it is is a Csus2 chord because the only different note it contains is D which is the second note in the key of C scale.
  10. I would vote but there is no option for none. I finger pick and use no picks or flat pick.
  11. I heard arlo on xm the village say that to improve his playing he snuck in to clubs underage and watched the performers play there and stole all he could., and if there was lick / chord or something else he didn't understand he would go backstage and ask and most of the players would be more than happy to show him.
  12. I was traveling in africa and I kept hearing very loud drums so asked the guide what's with all the drums? he just told me "be very glad you hear drums very bad when drums stop" So ve traveled on but I kept hearing drums and they got louder. so asked again what is with the drums and what happens when they stop? He look and me said again "be very glad you hear drums very bad when drums stop". We traveled on but I kept hearing the drums. I got got to the point I couldn't take it anymore. So yelled at him what happens when drums stop? he looked at me and said "then comes bass solo"
  13. Go to many live concerts watch the people there play and steal everything you can. That is how arlo guthrie learned.
  14. Get a capo and learn how to use it. Best thing you can do for your voice.
