    Tips For New Lyricists

    So my tip for new lyricists is use something that forces your lyric into an defined musical space. An instrumental version of a song that is similar to what you want to write might work. Programs like Band-In-A-Box take some effort to learn but are certainly worth the effort.

    thanks for dropping in your thoghts. :) i have written something..and posted up too..well to me dark lyric is despair, abomination, satan, hell and those kinda stuff..

    Have i got wrong idea about dark lyrics or what..?

    i m just a newbe, but here are my thoughts..

    personally, i try to write lyric similerr to the bands i love at that moment. Although i have written couple of offtrack lyrics but people didnt like it much ! But i prefer quality and structure as well. I believe that changes can be done according to music/tune/melody. Many people say that sometimes its better to go offrhyme and i believe at some stage its true too. Although many people disagree with that. Many say that rhyme is MUST ingrediant of a lyric !

    Quality : it can be considered in many aspects. coz sometimes random lines also makes a quality lyric. not intentionally but it does makes sometimes ! On the contrary lyric that is totally to the point, following the theme doesnt make that much charm. But again it all depends on the writter..If Lazz would write it, lyrics sure would have potential, experience blossoms ! ^_^:)

    lots of discussion happened..and i didnt notice..oopzziee..!

    well, no offence. no need to fight on genre. when i was noob{still i m} i used to heart linkin park. but now they sorta sucks to me. I love underground stuff. grindcore to be more specific. but on the other hand i am a big time fan of melodic death metal. In flames, soilwork, norther to name few ! as well as i enjoy viking folk metal too ! Ensiferum for example. but then again when i took a look at ensiferum lyrics. Most of their lyrics' theme was sailing and stuff. Seas, fighing, journeys and stuff. where as most of the melodeath bands have lyrics themed pain, satan, despair and darkness and stuff.

    But if i talk about Grindcore, they have crappy lyrics about sex and weird lyrics about sexuality, rape and sexual cheapness. for example band Dying Fetus..one of their song's name is "kill your mother, rape your dog. But i m quite sure that i am not willing to write any stuff like that..i want to write stuff that everyone can listen{read}. Something which make sense.

    In short, creating no more misunderstandings, i'd like to know..HOW TO WRITE DARK LYRICS ?

    yeah..same as burst alive..

    so far i write lyrics only, i dont know about song ideas..but yeah..when i m in loo or bathing {in short in the bathroom} i get most of the ideas..really..!

    and best when i m travelling..last time i was travelling, i wrote 2 songs back to back in bus only..

    idk about the prices at your place..!!

    but if i talk about india..!!

    1) big bands dont come here..coz people are not into western music much..!!

    2) those who comes costs too much..!! E.G. Iron maiden is coming in Jan...the tickets will be around 2500 bucks..thats minimum..!! WTF..!!
