  1. I didn't know that bouncing individual stems could be...such..a..night..MARE!!! I need to figure out the best way to bus and group my tracks to be more efficient from now on.. Ay-yai-yai 😩

    1. Richard Tracey

I suppose it depends how many you have. To make each midi one into audio and you had 100 could take a while, especially in Logic.

Ken I take it you are doing this as a batch run and not each one individually?

  2. I think I have just written what has now become my favourite song of mine. Still needs some tweaks, but it sounds so good.

  4. Trying to create a tropical EDM track(ala) but it's taking me forEVER to catch up on the sound design aspect of synthesizers(Serum to be exact)..😩*sigh*

    1. Richard Tracey

Try SynthMaster or SynthMaster One - the sounds and design on that are excellent for the price.

  5. I will be releasing my first single on 1st December 2017. It is called Heroes and will be released via CD Baby to all the usual outlets.

I am hoping to have it played on an internet based radio show on the 29th November, so thought the release a couple of days later might help.

I have updated my website and I am using Twitter a lot more, so please join myself and John, Mahesh etc over there.

  6. The moment you realize you're addicted to Songstuff.com: when you go on line to check your bank account but go the Songstuff.com site instead...

    1. Richard Tracey

I have SongStuff as a page on my iPhone, iPad and MacBook, always on and always wanting my attention. Sounds like a marriage😱

  7. Any Sparks fans on here? I love Sparks, have done for decades now. Was lucky enough to catch them live in Newcastle last month- absolutely brilliant. Their latest album (Hippopotamus) is a masterpiece. Ron and Russ- Head Of Light Entertainment love you!!

Edith Piaf is currently my favourite song of the year. It is just fantastic.

  8. Not sure how you post new music/video links to the Showcase Forum (naive new boy syndrome)! Have tried the "new topic" button but it won't let me access music or video. Can someone talk me through the process please :)

    1. Richard Tracey

You need to have at least 10 posts before posting in Showcase.

  10. If anyone is interested, I have now managed to finish a song. It has been mixed and mastered and has been listened to about 50 times since I got it back today :D.... will post a quick teaser video soon, as still trying to decide on what to do for the actual video for the song.

    1. Richard Tracey

Video has now been added to the Showcase area:D

  11. Jigsaw Sequence is now on Facebook.

  12. So annoyed. Just realised one of my favourite songs I have written was mostly done with the trial version of Blue II, which I hoped to buy at some point when it was on sale. The track doesn't play in Logic now as there is no sound as the trial has finished, but I want to,do this as my next single, so had to go and buy Blue II now!!!!

    1. Richard Tracey

Yeah, I was going to buy it when it was on sale. I still managed to get it for about £20 less than the normal price, so wasn't too bad.

  13. Hi all... apologies if I haven't responded to any of your comments. I have posted on a couple of topics, but haven't done anything about my own stuff.

Just to say, I lost my dad last week. It was unexpected and a bit of a shock and I thought I would deal better by taking myself away from my music (as I normally write sad, depressing music;)), but in reality, I feel like I needed to express myself and work through this with my music.

I will respond to any comments you have given me, but bear with me as I work my way through them.

    Thanks R.

    1. Richard Tracey

Thanks guys.. always crap when this happens, more so when it is unexpected and the person is still considered young.

  14. Sorry guys, I am going to be off the site for a little while. I had a really shit couple of days and I need to get my head together before responding to anyone or posting.

Its true what they say.... life really is a bitch.

    1. Richard Tracey

Thanks Jenn. I think it's just going to take time.

  15. Finally bought the Just1L.com domain name. Can't believe with all the lawyers it wasn't taken.

    1. Richard Tracey

Yeah, it was the darker to lighter one, that is really cool.

  17. Hey Richard, I did type "Home" in the search bar above and nothing came up.  Can you link me to that song so I can listen?

    1. Richard Tracey

I am going to post up a couple of instrumentals I was never happy with the lyrics for and see if anyone wants to have a go at writing lyrics to them. Anyone who wants to get involved, I will allow them to download the track to work with, similar to what Dek did. None of the tracks have been completed instrumentation or arrangement wise, as I moved on to something else, but there are ideas there. Home will be one of these tracks, but none of the titles need to remain, they are placeholders.

Will try to get that going today if I find a minute.

  18. Trying to write lyrics. It all seems like pretentious, unsingable gobbledygook. This is so frustrating...

    1. Richard Tracey

Pick one of your favourite songs and dissect the lyrics. See how they have structured them, what they are saying, what kind of rhythm they are using for the lyrics to be sung. Then take a similar idea and using that structure, write your own story into lyric form. It could be a story from something you've read, or seen on TV, your favourite hobby, book or a song about a relationship. Pick something you know something about and something that others might be interested in hearing about.

If you need any help, post what you have and ask for advice/help on the forums.

      Good luck.

  20. Hey Richard,

i'm out of town for a week ... I'll follow up on my gear when I get back.

    Take care !

  21. Hot off the presses..  Always a timely message, but particularly so these days. Pretty much just me and a Ukulele, Ukulele Bass AND my lovely wife helping out on background vocals.

    1. Richard Tracey

Damn M57, this is so good. The melody, the harmonies, everything is perfect and the uke is so beautiful.

i was just about to put my ipad down and go to sleep when your status update popped up and I thought I would have a listen, now I am going to have your song playing in my head all night ;)

      Well done.
