    Do you warm up?

I warm up with a song or three about an hour before I'm going to sing. It's just like stretching a muscle, it can move faster and do more after you do it.
  2. Meh, I've been smoking bud for longer than I've been singing, so there's not really a baseline to compare it too. I seriously doubt it, not because of your skill or anything though. I've gone in for singing lessons multiple times from multiple teachers, all who were supposed to be of high quality (Though none really taught me what I wanted to know...) and never could tell, and when I mention it they're always surprised. I'm only 19 though, started singing at 16 seriously, though I could sing a little before that, it;s just nothing compared to what I can do. I went from a little choir boy musical voice to what I have now. It's only just now really starting to get to me. I've hit a ceiling and I'm not really progressing how I want to. It weakens my falsetto most of all, so you might be able to tell if I was singing in that on one of my worse nights. What kind of style are you? I do just about anything now, with exception of broadway and stuff... A little done with that lol
  3. I would stop screaming immediately for one. I haven't screamed at all in like two years now, it's just bad for your voice all around, and there's no need to yell.
  4. I've smoked every day for a few years, though not the typical idea. It kind of messes with it sometimes, but for the most part I don't notice. I think my falcetto could be a little stronger, my breaths a little deeper, but it hasn't affected my tone.
  5. Mick Jagger isn't very good, but still incredibly famous. I suppose you need character, or something else for them to focus upon besides how crappy you're singing.
  6. Yeah, I'm not much into screaming but the online band thing is something I've wanted to try for a little while. I sing, but I know enough guitar and piano to help write material, and my theory's not too bad compared to most people.
  7. I'm a big fan of soul, funk, jazz, blues and a lot of classics(though with plenty of new as well), but here in Memphis, which is supposed to have some renown for that kind of thing, has a total drought right now. Is this the same everywhere else? Every single band making compelling pieces that aren't just generic sounds around here is either new-age or post-modern or some other lame sub-genre. I love the music, but it's all in the same category, like being stuck in a time machine locking you in the present, if that makes sense. Another problem is that improv and such is in pretty awful condition as well. I'm trying to inject these ideas into others people's thoughts as well, but they're all off doing their own thing, not many people are into jamming. So, is there anyone on here that sees a similar trend where they love.
  8. I was REALLY about to click for liek three seconds 'til I read the last sentence. May I ask why him in particular? He doesn't really do anything special.
