  1. I knew a guy who had a Black Panther kit, and he wouldn't shut up about it. When we went to local gigs we would take bets on how long it would take for 'Richie' to introduce himself to the drummer. Usually within a few sentences he would mention that he had a 'Ludwig Black Panther'. Sad really. Cheers John
  2. Hi TheOne Producers can be such a difficult lot Surely they must have a fair idea of the tempo? I know they like to have control but..... Cheers John
  3. Hi I used to use Cubase years ago on my old Atari, I then converted to using Cakewalk and haven't looked back. I wondered if any of you were more recent converts, moving on to Sonar, and what you thought of Sonar in comparison to Cubase. Why did you change over and what were the big changes that took a while to get your head around. Cheers John
  4. How on earth did you manage to break 3 strings? That must have been a lightning bass fill! Any gigs coming up? Cheers John
  5. Hi I'm just starting looking for a new live FX unit to replace my Zoom 3030. Any recommendations? Cheers John
  6. Yep, I have to agree, nicely done Tom! John
  7. Tom Thamks for the post on ampcast! Cheers John
  8. Hi Tom No worries. Hopefully you'll find some of what you want here. Basically let me know if you think songstuff can help, and I'll see what we can do. Meanwhile enjoy songstuff! Good luck with your site and music. What's the url?
  9. Hi David I'd be interested to hear. I have an NT2 and I'm very impressed. Cheers John
  10. Hi Tom No special process, because there is no site membership scheme yet, only for the boards. We will be adding a free site membership in the future, mainly coz it make admin of artist services easier, but currently if you want added to the ad rotation, or the artist links, just mail us the appropriate info or graphics and we'll add you. Simple as that. One of the new features we will be adding when we have an artist membership is the artists page where you willl be able to add news and links etc. In addition we will make some articles and reference material available for members only. Meanwhile everything is available for all. Songstuff is run by musicians for musicians, all contributions (in terms of articles, glossary items etc) are very welcome. We currently make no money from this site, we do it because it's good to help. That's all. For this reason, and because running a site this size isn't cheap, we don't have any audio hosting. If we can work out a way to do it, we will. Hope this helps. Cheers John
  11. Hi Tom Just to say welcome aboard! So to speak Cheers John

Hi Fascinate As far as I know...I've a mate who works with Emu. I'll ask him and get back to you if you want... Cheers John
  13. Hi Dave You mean that Steinberg software was...pirated!!? Surely not. What can the world be coming to! Cheers John
  14. Hi In terms of production, what's your favourite album? It's a tough question, but hey... For me there are of course many candidates. I think I'll suggest Radio Head, Ok Computer though. Just for shear density of ideas. When you listen hard (well not that hard) you can hear a lot of the edits. Som I am sure are intentional, others are more dubious. Although clicks and smooth fade ins improve quality of the mix, they can interfere with the creative flow. Cheers John
  15. Tell us all about yourself... I won't bore you with my resume, it would take too long! Needless to say I am passionate about music, and I love writing my own.
  16. Can anyone recommend a good starting point? I've been playing guitar for more than twenty years and I still haven't got round to it. I figured I'd ask and see if anyone had any pointers...
  17. Hi It depends on if I want to capture the sound of the room the kit is in, and how much control over the individual drums I want. If I want maximum control over the levels I let the kit mikes do the job. john

    If I played guitar

A unique style: playing the guitar with drum sticks. An interesting experiment!
  19. Nice one! One think to add is select a hardknee compression! Cheers John
  20. Hi Good to have you on the boards! What do I do? Lots of stuff, including running songstuff.... someone has to! Cheers John
  21. Hi I thought someone might have some recommendations for Mike placement with the aim of reducing spill and capturing the sound of the kit. What mikes, placement damping, EQ etc. Cheers John
  22. Hi Just thought I'd see what site users thought about the Steinberg buy out. Concerned, happy? You tell me... Cheers John
