  1. What a great question! God I've got loads....depends on how I feel - but I love polychords like Carol King used oodles of, on geetar I love playing D with a G in the bass and my good old fav Cadd9 I know loads of shapes but have apsoloutly no idea what the chords are! But hey they sound good lol Katie x
  2. Heya sub7th Thanks a lot for your thoughts! Well funny you should mention reverb as it's the reverb units I wanted to keep mainly! I've got a really nice old Korg unit that has some lovely warm sounds So when you say I should look for an external...I'm guessing that's one that sits outside the pooter? (sorry to sound blonde lol )
  3. Hmmm...that would be good! But I'm guessing it would just be easier to have one soundcard!
  4. Ahh i c.....tis just my brother got me the soundcard in my current pooter and so I wouldn't want to get rid of it unless I really had to (I'm sentamentle me!). Thanks for the link - I checked it out earlier and it certianly looks easier to set up but booger me it's expensive lol (Or am I out of touch?! lol) It's all stuff for me to think about anyways
  5. Blimey!! Well that would certainly do the trick! Thanks for the link Steve.....no you still can't come and collect my rack gear!! lol So......((excuse me for sounding incredibly blonde, I'm really crappy with knowing about the insides of a pooter!!)) would this replace my current soundcard? Or is that somthing completly different? x
  6. Heya mate Thanks for your comment.... Well the main reason I don't go straight into my pooter is because I've only got 2 inputs, and I use at least 5 or 6 just for the drums! So it would be a real pain in the bum for me - to be honest the Alesis is great and it doesn't screw with the sound quality......plus I can just download all the files straight into Cubase and mix away - bloomin mavelous I'm guessing that a hooge-a-mous soundcard with lots of ins and outs is the way forward? x Ha ha!! Again...nice try Heya Bitstream...thanks for that link I'll check it out now!!
  7. Heya Nightwolf Yes this is a good point....to be honest I've not once thought about using any of the rack gear, as I've been using all the FX on the pooter - it's just it seems a shame to have the rack stuff and not use it! But I guess it's silly to use it just for the sake of it......and I could sell it and spend the spondoolies on some thing else (or of course, donate it all to Steve! After all...he'll even come and collect!! Waw! lol ) Thanks for your thoughts! x
  8. Heya Songstuff peeps! Hope all's good with you..... I've recently got a PC for my studio (I've no idea why I didn't get one sooner...it's amazing!!....well I do, it's coz I had no money lol but anyways) I still use my trusy Alesis HD24 to record everything, then I download all the files onto my pooter and mix everything in Cubase. My question is so far I've been using all the add-ons that my friend game on my computer such are reverbs, compressors etc...what's the best way of setting up the PC so I can still add FX from my rack gear? Is it a nightmare to set it up so I can add reverbs and have that signal going back into my PC? Or is it simplier just to sell all my rack gear and spend the money on my things for my pooter? Hmm....what do ya think? Thankies for reading! Katie Mawee x
  9. I'm not one of these people who can come up with lyrics just like that......I need to really feel what I'm writing about. I can come up with music anytime but when I write lyrics I like to be as honest and descriptive as I can, that's why when I get an idea/emotion/some-one tics me off I like to try and write it all down as quickly as possible as in a few hours (or even minutes sometimes) the feeling will be gone! I don't like to think too deeply about things like structure and standard arrangments....I like to let my mind feel that it can go in any direction that the song need to go in. I do generally tend to write in Verse/Chorus/Verse/Chorus/M8/Chorus/Chorus but that's purely by accident! I love hearing unusual but not umcomfortable structures, I think Ani Difranco is one of the greatest songwriters for doing this - her songs are simple enough that you can find the groove, but there's great little phrases that she dots around her songs just to keep your interest I love it! Anyways thanks for reading, I've really enjoyed seeing what you all had to say x
  10. Hey again John Excellent! Thanks for all that, really helpful I didn't think abour companies like Shure or AKG.....I'll investigate! xx Heya John! Really?! That's interesting to know....thanks for that - I'll check out the myspace link too! Cheers mate x I will Donna! x
  11. Heya peeps! How's it goin? I'm part of an acoustic duo called Lorelei and I've been pondering this week about getting some kind of sponsership/endorsment deal from Yamaha, as both me and Luigi play Yamaha guitars and after every single gig we always get asked about our instruments.....but I've been checking out the Yamaha website and there's no info about anything like that nor can I find anything on Google.....so thought I'd post a topic on here to see if any of you have had any experience of this kind of thing? Thanks a lot for your thoughts
  12. Hey Finn That sounds familiar to me too! I started up my own label as I was fed up with constatly getting rejected by every label I approached - or being told my music was not radio friendly enough (I'll take that as a compliment!!...) It was tuff to start with but we've learnt and got further than we ever thought we would - and now we're signing other artists! Good luck with everything - keep up all posted!
  13. I agree that digial gear is much easier to use than analog in many repects... but I've still not heard a track that can capture that analog sound - I think it's easier to record keyboards, programmed drums & electric guitar...but I've always found it hard to get a nice acoustic guitar sound from digi gear I mean this may be that I'm not using it right! lol But I've always favoured using the trusty old fashioned analog stuff - is that coz I've not come across the right program to use? What do you think? Do you notice that your music lacks that analog warmth when you record digitally? Or is it just me!?!? <---My friend Lisa looks like this when she plays drums
  14. So what does every-one think is better to record onto? Analog or digital and why?
