In the Christmas song "(There's No Place Like) Home for the Holidays" why aren't the lyrics "Gee the traffic is HORRIFIC" instead of "terrific?" Discuss.

I've never noticed the "reputation" score before. How do you have 2,035 and I only have 85?? You must earn extra points by locking your threads.

This is only one way to measure popularity. It could even be argued that record sales shouldn't be the main determinant, because we all can consume music which we used to have to pay for in years past. Another way to gauge popularity would be gross receipts from touring (concerts). Back to the subject matter at hand, this has always been the most egregious "error" and I've never heard an proper explanation. It's supposed to be "I'll come around..." but it sounds like he starts to sing a different line before returning to the correct line. Here @ 2:59:

My problem with Soundcloud is that the technology is TRASH. I have songs that won't load on mobile, even though it works perfectly fine on a browser. Sometimes I'll update a song with a new mix, but the mobile version still plays the older version even months later. They have something in settings to "clear the cache," but it doesn't actually clear any cache that I can tell. Just browse their Help forum online, and their standard answer is always "delete the app and reinstall." What year is this, 2017 or 2007 Soundcloud?

Yet more issues with Soundcloud. Instead of deleting songs and uploading new ones every time I make a change, I edit and replace tracks. That way your followers don't have to see the same song pop up time after time as if it's a new song. Anyhow, now updated songs are not played on the app, but play fine on the browser. I updated a song over 24 hours ago, and the old version is still playing on the app. I tried clearing the app's cache, closing the app, logging off and back on, and even shutting down my phone altogether. Still the OLD version plays on the app. Again, web browsers play the new one fine. Seems like it should be simple programming for Soundcloud. Ridiculous.

With all due respect, I would not put him in the same category as a Tommy Emmanuel or the late great Pete Huttlinger. I perused his youtube channel, and it seems like all of his songs have the same pattern - some nice strumming with a percussive slap on the backbeat. Admittedly his form today looks better than it did in your video above (I could tell he was self taught by his unorthodox right hand). Maybe he'll continue to improve his craft - he's still very young. But as far as virtuosity goes, he's not at the top of the world for fingerpickers just yet.

I read a book (The Sound Machine) recently and one of the chapters was on K pop - admittedly I had never heard of it. K-pop is a takeoff on our boy- and girl-bands.

Got it. I was just thinking how easy/difficult it would be to go down this path. I've played a piano at a beginner level, so I could do some stuff. I really liked Gry's various synth sounds in Forever Blue and wonder how those are done. I recently read a book called "The Song Machine" and one of the guys they talked about was Max Martin, who has written way more hit singles than I can mention. Anyway, it said he doesn't even play an instrument. He just grabs samples and comes up with hit songs.

I'm an idiot when it comes to synths (among other things). So, when you are recording a song, are you actually playing the chords and the rhythm on the keys, like a piano? Or just triggering samples? I've only used key sounds on a couple of songs, using software, and a couple of times on electric guitar using effects. I'm wondering if my guitar laden style is getting dated - though I'm definitely not into electronic dance music. Thanks.

Weird. Thanks for letting me know the site isn't down. So I can't load on Safari or Chrome (I get a "Sorry something went wrong" error message) and can't even listen to anyone's embedded songs. On a whim I downloaded Firefox and lo and behold it works on it. I went to their support forum, but they've disabled the ability to post and it's read-only because they're updating their help site (expected by October 31st). Who the heck disables their help forum??! I sent an email at support@soundcloud.com (I don't even know if this is a real email address - I'm guessing).

Weird. I've tried to enter the site via my computer and also the website on my phone browser, and I get a "Sorry!" error message. I can't even get to the login page. I'll try again tonight when I get home. Thanks.
