I think if you just use the amp, then a Valve amp would give you better tone. If you use enhancements (foot pedals) then a transistor amp would be more suitable. With the introduction of amp modeling hardware, who can tell the difference now?

Sounds pretty comprehensive! The only thing I would suggest is adding a silent CPU fan.

The Delta 1010 is a great card and should handle all you can throw at it!

Hmmm I like that Don't Panic, that's always been on my list to cover at one time or another. Hmm. We could do a Cover Contest -I could whip up a backing track (a few different versions even) for vocalists without too muc trouble... Dunno how that would work out with copyrights etc, but it could be fun

That's a sexy Telecaster. I only have a shitty Squire Tele, but some day I'd like something similar to that one.

I bought one like that! Swapped it for my Antoria Les Paul. Not every Fender guitar is a good one! Nothing wrong with a Squire!

A friend of mine once built his own. He used a piece of 3" x 2" timber from his shed. It was left over from a window frame his dad had made. It was some kind of hardwood, but not too sure what? Worked fine! I would suggest a trip to a timber yard or DIY shop for an offcut!
