  1. I've played a few Takamine guitars and always found them to be comfortable and solid with a good sound. I'd say if you like the sound and it feels right to play, buy it! Don't start faffing around trying out 10 different guitars for comparison. You'll know if you like it! If you're not sure, then there is probably something about it you don't like so forget it!

  2. That's a very good analogy Rude! I think you've hit the nail on the head there! But I do think the times they are a changing! There are fewer people actually buying music! This is often blamed on file sharing and illegal downloads. I think it's more a question of taste! Do the public actually want to pay for something that may get a few plays and then forgotten? I found this interesting little article

    http://www.news.harvard.edu/gazette/2004/0...ilesharing.html

I still believe that file sharing is more a case of try before you buy! I for one am very carefull about what I buy! Mainly because of financial restraints! I don't want to fork out 15 quid for a load of pap!

  3. I used to work out most of the songs we played in our band(s). I think once you have the key, it's generaly pretty straight forward! Problems arise when trying to work out songs played on detuned instruments. If I'm trying to work out somebodies guitar solo, I pick out certain points to get to. Then I work on the bits in between. If the solo is so fast you can't distinguish the notes? Who else is gonna know what you're playing anyway? Those I couldn't work out, I changed completely.

  4. When you hit the print screen button, it places a copy of the screen on your clipboard. If you then open any graphics program (Like MS Paint) and press [Ctrl V] this will paste the picture of the captured Screen in your chosen App. You will need to Save as a jpg or Giff then attach it to an Email to send. If you want to post the screenshot in this thread you will need to upload the picture somewhere then link to it from your post.

You could try to disable Winamp! Or you could try to find Windows Media Player and make that your default player. It should be in C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player Personaly, I hate winamp!

That's what it is. This is a great chord. I use it a lot when I play in A. If you slide it up 2 you can get this,

Which is E Ab bass. You can play the open top E as well which adds to the interest! Great for power chords.

  6. What are your favourite chords on the guitar? By this I mean what chords do you use a lot, possibly too much, in your music? Yes, I know it's a stupid question and it depends, but it's Tuesday for goodness sake.

It would be good if you could draw a diagram too so I might learn some new ones.

    Mine is Amaj7

    I think that's an Amaj13? Amaj7 would be without the F#

  7. Hey Wolf! i can send the wav file if you like? or an MP3, or, if you've altered the midi file, send it back to me and I'll record the wav for you.

Have you made sure the metronome is switched off?

Try muting the percussion track (10)

Try a different patch for the piano track, i.e. Glockenspiel. See if you still get the same problem.

  8. I've no idea but I expect they are great in the rain! :D

Where do you buy your strings? There are some really cheap internet sites apparently.

If you are too skint to buy new strings, you can just boil up the old ones like spaghetti and they sound new again.

But it's tricky to get them 'al dente'!

I think this only works for wound strings. Boiling them gets all the dirt and skin out of the coils! We once convinced our Bass player to boil his strings in vinegar! It took days to get rid of the smell from the house!

  9. You should have your copyright notice in anyway! Whether you include a publisher notice or not. Because you are the songwriter, you should have this,

All songs copyright © Finn Arild Aasheim

    If you put

All songs copyright control by Finn Arild Music.

Then the copyright control is passed to Finn Arild Music. Which doesn't yet exist!

  10. Since I've not been playing, I generaly change strings when it's absolutely desperate! I recently had cause to change my Acoustic strings. I had been having some fret buzz problems and I decided to lowere the fret height on the whole neck to make it more comfortable to play. So I stripped the guitar and stoned the whole neck! Plays like a dream now!

  11. I just tried again and have discovered that it exceeds my file limit by a mere 2kb.

    WTF!!

    I seek a solution.

    Send it in two halfs...

My favourite thing I've done so far is on a recording by a writer called Chris Palazzi, coming up with the idea of putting a recording made on location at another planet on it. As far as I know, this has never been done before. NASA gave us permission to use the recording provided they were given due credit, which is only fair. The recording was done on location by the Cassini probe at Saturn's Magnetosphere, half way across the solar system, and downsampled into the audio range... It sounds kind of like an old analogue eerie synth effect that you might have heard in an old episode of Dr Who...

This nearly got by without notice there! I think this is pretty impressive stuff to have on your CV (Resume)!
