Challenge #26 - What's In A Name?

I hear a tune that starts with a windy, ethereal sound ... you're standing on a cliff looking down into the gates of hell ... and a simple motif is heard.  It consists of a sound, a longer leap, and a recap of that same sound.  In the latter part of the verse, a much rougher, grittier sound is introduced, and we first heard the kettledrums with a simplified version of the motif.  In the second verse we hear a motif of the water, and the gritty sound (with brass) gets harder and harder.  The ethereal sound unexpectedly touches "the rain it will not fall," then back to the fray.  But in the final four-line take-out, the song ends where it began, except for the deep, insistent but now-fading kettledrums.

 

"Details TBD," but the arrangement basically echoes the complex sentiments of the lyric.

Great start, Mike. Looks like it could go many directions musically, and a chorus would help tie in a theme; just keep it simple so the verses could shine.
