dangerous singing technique

Recommended Posts

i read in a book ('the bad & the beautiful') about sammy davis jnr. it said that he had a technique where he would sing the note as he exhaled.

i thought everybody did this. but apparently this is bad as it can burn out your voice box. nat king cole apparently warned sdj about this, but it didnt stop him.

sdr did damage his voice later in his career too, although not permanently. anyone know anything about this sort of thing?

Fascinating. I clearly do everything wrong. No wonder I lose my voice after every gig.

I’m not sure that our punters will dig the operatic Italian style though.

Thanks Hari

I tend to loose my voice after 15 minutes singing, so you're way ahead!! :D

i think it depends what kinda vocal style you want to adopt.

singing from your diaghram and exhaling exenuates more of a breathy warm tone.. i guess this is a 'correct' singing style that promotes an unforced character.

but is apparantly 'dangerous' oh well..

if your a screecher then you'll sing harder relying more on your throat registers for power which doesn't rely on so much lung capacity as your larynx is squeezing the s.hit outta your throat. oh well..

either way your screwed. ::)

scream for me sooooooooooooongstuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuff!.. <choke>
