  • I've now spent 50 years with technology either working in IT or, since I retired, watching developments and just using it, e.g. for home production of music, video and images.   While I'm used to the pace of change and occasional breakthroughs, I've honestly been stunned by the very recent rapid surge of change in chip architecture, AI, robotics and quantum computing, all seemingly intertwined.   Previous commentators had smugly said that human creativity would always be ‘safe’ ... but such predictions have proved worthless. You can now simply describe what you want and then find something you like from an avalanche of quick results, or else choose one

  • Possibly just echoing my 'old man' gut feel, but this is from a much younger guy who steadily covers several creative and technical aspects of music worth considering ... and this is from almost a decade ago!       Greg

  • Hi, I am Lindsay Jupp and I manage Strange World Music. I started writing at the beginning of 2002 met a young musician from Norway, we wrote some songs together. The collaboration was a bit short lived so when it came to an end I continued writing but could not find a collaborator. It was 2019 when I finally got music for my lyrics and I have been making songs ever since. I have featured artists on some of my songs and I hope to maybe achieve having a song licensed for TV or an advert or even a film.

  • Hey Gang,   We all know the journey of music production isn't always smooth. Whether it's choosing gear, then learning about the gear you buy, struggling with technical glitches, creative blocks, time management issues, or even imposter syndrome, we each face challenges that can make creating music tough.   I thought it would be valuable for us all to share our experiences with the obstacles we've encountered in music production, and more importantly, how we’ve overcome them. Not only will this thread be a safe space for venting, but it will also be a place where we can support each other by sharing practical tips.   Consider including the fo

  • Hello everyone! I'm Kristie, I play the guitar and bass, and I'm trying song writing. I have a couple of recorded songs but the quality isn't great. Here I'm to communicate and learn to improve my songwriting skills.

  • Hey guys! My name is Ian or Iana (either is fine, so are any pronouns)   I've been writing music for as long as I can remember, but my main project rn is called KILL KRYPTO!, and it's a weird sort of altrock/metal/punk/hiphop project with some elements of shock-rock and heavy comedic overtones   I also have a self titled page where I just sort of post whatever   I don't rly know how to best describe my music so I'll just put a link here for my debut album "BUST UP THE BLOCKCHAIN" (it's free, but i still hope a Bandcamp link is OK): https://killkrypto.bandcamp.com/album/bust-up-the-blockchain   if you really just want a 2-second exp

  • Hi all!   New here and excited to get stuck in with all music related topics! I am a composer, guitarist (predominantly), bass player and producer, as well as a full-time teacher. To start with, how many here still use Soundcloud as a means for discovering new music?   I personally have been using it for years and still very active on it, and have discovered some amazing independent artists! Through the rise of larger streaming platforms though who are paying bigger bucks, it concerns me that Soundcloud is slipping under the radar, despite being able to interact, post, and respond to users' music within an instant.   What are your overall opi
