Me, Myself & I

Recommended Posts

I have only written country songs in the past.   I wrote my first rap song back in 2016 & just had it produced last month.  It is dedicated and inspired by my son who had some rough experiences in the early stages of his life.  (That is him in the video).  Thank you in advance for any critique you may offer.

Now I know

It’s only me myself and I

I’ll stay solo

No one else that I’ll rely

From now on

I know I’m gonna be alright

Keep movin on

I’m never gonna be defied

I lost all my pride

Things slipped through my hands

Don’t have much to say

Know I’ve blown my chance

Once a dreamer

Now I’ll pay the cost of wasting all of those days

If I had my dirt bike still

I would ride away, I would ride away, back to my hiding place

Taking from others only robbed myself

Of the goodness in my life & all the things I felt

The things I did, I will not mention

Not looking back and surrendering to the temptation

Tripping, dealing and smoking

I’ve been there and I’ve done that

Sober, healing, hustling

Currently where I’m at

And I’ve been staring in the mirror with blood shot eyes

I need help from three wise men…me, myself and I

And my homies, my homies

They gon end up in the sky

Death is not up in my plans, I've got me, myself and I

In the mirror is me I’m facing, In the mirror is me I’m facing

Sometimes it’s hard to face him

Sometimes it’s hard to face him

Now I know

It’s only me myself and I

I’ll stay solo

No one else that I’ll rely

From now on

I know I’m gonna be alright

Keep movin on

I’m never gonna be defied

I left that night watching sister and mama cry

To clear my head ask myself all the reasons why

What made me do this?

And what I’ve become?

Only hurting myself, sister, daddy and mom

A death trap just waiting in the wings

I need to get out do bigger better things

And to speak the truth no matter how it hurts

Respect and loyalty is what they deserve

I want the comforts of home

To be where it’s quiet

Not in the prison cell

Finding myself in the center of a riot

I wanna turn the key

Have freedom and peace

You can’t do that in the prison cell

When you surrounded by all the police

Been staring in the mirror with blood shot eyes

I need help from three wise men…me, myself and I

And my homies, my homies

They gon end up in the sky

Death is not up in my plans, I've got me, myself and I

The devil hit me hard

Yeah, he knocked me down

But I got back up and I stood my ground

Now I know

It’s only me myself and I

I’ll stay solo

No one else that I’ll rely

From now on

I know I’m gonna be alright

Keep movin on

I’m never gonna be defied

Now I know

It’s only me myself and I

I’ll stay solo

No one else that I’ll rely

From now on                             The devil won’t destroy me

I know I’m gonna be alright        Got me, myself & I

Keep movin on                           No he won’t destroy me

I’m never gonna be defied          Got me, myself & I

Keep movin on                           I will not destroy me

I’m never gonna be defied          I got me, myself & I

Now I know

It’s only me, myself & I

Awesome job man! The production is great, your flow hits different keys and your story is inspiring and understandable. Mic presence is there too. The hook is well thought out and the girl sang her part beautifully. If I had any constructive criticism i'd probably take up a whole page explaining one thing, but I don't see anything wrong with this man. Written with love. Good luck and keep it up boss.

Yeah, I agree with bombastic. This is really good, the rapping and the singing blended nicely together and the production is pretty tight as well. The lyrics really stand out the most!

Awesome stuff, @Mblack!

Thank you.  I'm contemplating maybe re-doing it all over.  Get someone new to rap it and make new beats.  I've been told by a few that it lacks production and breaks.  Needs a rapper with more attitude.

@Mblack,

The current vocals and rap are not bad at all. As for the production, there are many ways to produce a track so it's really a never ending story. But if you do end up re-doing it, I hope you find people who like to think outside of the box.

All the best with it.

Hi Mblack,

I like this alot! Awesome lyric, female vocals very pretty and her sound stays with me after the music.

Male vocals good tone but can hear parts where alittle more attitude would be better. Then bam he hits with that tone and it sounds nice, reallly nice.

Listening on my phone now.. going to check out later.

:)

not feeling the drums for a rap song.. but when the singer came in it kind of worked for her.. Your flow is cool it could be a bit tighter, im  not a fan of repeating bars as much as u did.. try working on the lyrics! One could interpret repetition as lazyness or filler.. Keep it up and mix your verses better! reverb and compression and eq.. Keep it up RTF? Peaace..

I think it's alright.  The beat is different but in a cool kinda way.  The rapping skills are decent, not captivating for me.

Keep it up!
