A good reference is the rule of thirds. PLace your horizon either 2/3 of the way up or 2/3 of the way down the page! FinnArilds 'Golden Ratio' reference is worth looking in to! If you understand Maths! Golden Ratio

Sorry, I'm a bit of a dork where this kind of thing is concered! Can you explain what this diagram means? I'm guessing it's a guitar neck by the string names on the left. But what are the numbers on the strings? -

Have a look on eBay for a sound module or sampler, and buy a decent mother keyboard to plug into it. That way, you can always upgrade the module or sampler, and always have a decent keyboard! If you plug the keyboard into the PC, you can have any friggin sound you can imagine with software sampling! Buy a copy of Computer Music. It has a great list of free software on there. Sampler, synths, drum sampler, recording software, everything you could possibly want for the cost of the magazine!
