  1. Is getting tight the same as getting drunk?
  2. I can upload faster than download on this server, very close race though.
  3. Woke up this morning and what do you think I saw, a Donate banner at the top of the page of the first place I've been going for years. About Damn Time! Thanks John, for all you do and all you've done for years! Tom
  4. Check it out first, I use the hotspot feature to connect my laptop at home, but I don't have the unlimited data plan. My daughter has the unlimited data plan but she doesn't have access to the hot spot feature because they don't offer it with the unlimited plan. So, you can see, if you stream a lot of video you're going to run over you plan pretty quickly.
  5. Makeup links to lipstick but pretenders doesn't. You can't have two degrees of separation, pretenders-makeup-lipstick. That just leaves way to much room for squiggly associations.

  7. The premise is to link the song just posted with your new song. Either title-title, title-group, or group-group. The above post, 25 or 6 to 4 was linked by the numbers to Magnificent 7 theme, which was linked to the group name The Magnificent 6, who's song title was within the web which was linked to the title Weaver, Weave Me A Coat. Each post is somehow linked to the post above it. So, the group name above is Chicago, I might post Boston- More Than A Feeling But you can get more creative if you want to. Like think of 25 as one quarter and post Led Zeppelin's No quarter, or think in terms of telling time, or stay with Chicago and post the new Cubs song, or Take Me Out To The Ball Game. Things like that. The stonger associations are easier to build from, the more clever associations are fun to figure out too.
  8. Lol, too late for me. Just a split second, but I'll try again.
  9. ok, I changed my emoticon in the post and returned your point. Key -- essential would have been closer but I'll give it to you.
  10. Or maybe using a link that can open is indispensable? Either way, we have to take a point away from Rob.
  11. So how does Indispensable - Ben Hamilton ride the coat tails of little Walter -key to the highway ?
  12. I don't know if he'll play this in St. Louis but I love Southern Accents There's a southern accent, where I come from The young 'uns call it country The Yankees call it dumb I got my own way of talkin' But everything is done, with a southern accent Where I come from Now that drunk tank in Atlanta's Just a motel room to me Think I might go work Orlando If them orange groves don't freeze I got my own way of workin' But everything is run, with a southern accent Where I come from For just a minute there I was dreaming For just a minute it was all so real For just a minute she was standing there, with me There's a dream I keep having Where my mama comes to me And kneels down over by the window And says a prayer for me I got my own way of prayin' But everyone's begun With a southern accent Where I come from Read more: Tom Petty - Southern Accents Lyrics | MetroLyrics
  13. Kidding aside, I think that's a great gift. She opens it on Christmas and get's to look forward to it for 5 months. You've given her something that she'll think about, something that on a bad day she may use to cheer herself up. Nice work.
  14. $1,200-$1,400 for the gold and diamond in Des Moines, so just kidding around. I was quite shocked at the rise in concert tickets recently and didn't know how far out of the loop I was. I don't know if we will go see the show even though I'm a life long fan of both. Hard to tell since that is during my sons baseball season and that takes up most of my money during that time frame since he's on a traveling team. How'd you do on the tickets?
  15. Good luck, Merry Christmas, I know you'll enjoy the show.
  16. Are you getting the gold or diamond VIP package? I can't decide.
  17. I think I get what you're after, so if you have a song that is AABA, and is a folk song, you then add another descriptor to further identify it. Couldn't you just make a list of adjectives? Are you looking at tags that people put on songs when they post them? What's the purpose of the list and what's the payoff, in relation to the the song?
  18. Some of the boards I don't get to as often, but as time passes, I manage to get around to more than a few. Most of the site is silent reading for me, the Song title association thread is just so cool to pop in and listen to some great music, but I like the song critique forum too. Still, I spend most of my time in the lyrics forum, singing silent songs. I like the addition of the pit. You know, I recently have spoken to two members over the phone, an act that always catches me off guard. I don't know why, it's a strange thing for me to hear someone's voice for the first time. I've spent years on songstuff and haven't heard enough voices. Somehow, the pit is a little like that. it's almost a voice, it's a new dimension added to how I see someone. You can get a good feel for someone's character through their music and lyrics, but give them something to fight for, or a chance to state their core beliefs, and you add some color too the picture for sure. There's nobody in the pit I wouldn't hang out with, even if I don't agree with them much, because at least I know they're honest. I like the articles page, I've read most of them, some of them more than a few times. I like the site bugs and suggestions, and I like seeing Steve pop in every once in a while and would like to suggest he do it more often. I like that it seems sort of family-ish around here. I think someone said it already, but that has to do with how the site is run, the temperament, the ideas, the guidance from all the site staff and the cooperation of fellow members. Nice post Rudi, insightful, thoughtful, thankful. Sparked some nice comments.
  19. I disagree, but understand you're referring to self perception. I feel how others see you, in this case, is different. I also feel I'm not an artist, because I have ideas about who an artist is and how their work is presented. I tend to see the differences between myself and my perception of others. Like, compared to you, I'm not an artist. "But what can a poor boy do?" Perception, they say, is reality. I think an artist challenges that and say's what you perceive is only partly true. Then presents a vision that others don't normally see. In lyrics, we are taught it's linear..past, present, future, black and white, don't think for yourself, don't think at all just let me feed you all the details so there isn't room for your own judgment or interpretation and rule this and rule that and verse chorus bridge rhyme blah boring you know what me to tears. But being an artist is interpretive. If you sing something I didn't know I needed to hear but when I hear it, it feels like I've heard it all my life, you're an artist. The best part is not knowing. If, like Rudi says, I knew what I wanted to ultimately say, I'd say it and put my pencil down. What would be the need to keep writing?
  20. My quick reply without any in depth thought is how the mind seeks to make sense out of chaos. Always looking to solve. A piece of familiarity and the next and soon a solution starts to emerge, and along with it comes an emotional value which is either the wind or the rudder on the journey.
