  1. Oh yeah, I have a friend who does that for his bass drum. Not sure if it's a 12 or 15. I think it's a 15".
  2. Crazy idea here Donna, but it might work. Use a pair of headphones as a mic. Simply place one side of the phones over the speaker and connect it to your recorder. Oughta do the trick. And yes, I have used headphones as a mic before, just not in this way. Good luck, Tom
  3. Hey, nice set of cans!!! Sorry, carry on.
  4. Sounds like the curse of Y2K07
  5. Donna, The newer models are exactly like the old ones with the exception they moved the power switch to the front. Believe it or not, that is the only thing I don't like about mine. The way my studio is set up it's a pain in the arse turning them on. I like mine so much it never really bothered me that I didn't have the "pricier" brands. Tom
  6. These are basically mine except mine are 60w low / 40w high. Mine are just an older version. Doink
  7. Hiya John, I could be wrong but I think Donna is looking for powered monitors. One thing I forgot to mention to Donna is, the reason I like my monitors is I have Input level control plus lo-fi gain, and hi-fi gain. Really helps in fitting to any room environment. Ciao
  8. Hey there, So, I am assuming you are giving up on getting what you REALLY want? I know the Mackie's are expensive but you may (will) regret settling for less. Anyway, its hard for me to judge the monitors you have listed simply because I always compare others to what I have. With that being said, I would stear clear of the EMU's simply because of size. To me, I would expect ear fatigue listening to these after a short amount of time. Next I know many people swear by Behringer but I am not one of them. Between my purchases and those of a friend of mine, their products don't seem to last. Pieces and parts are sometimes made of cheap components. I simply do not trust them. Low prices are great, but only if what you buy lasts. Both products lack controllability in my opinion. If I had to chose I would go with the Behringers...but I would have to have a gun to my head. Tom
  9. You may want to throw out that glass that has the sharp edges.
  10. Gees Donna, I really don't want to advise when it comes to used equipment over the internet. I would say yes if it were a dealership where you can get "hands on" usage before you buy, but E-Bay...I cannot say. Those, as you know, are very expensive monitors, but they are worth every penny. They kick the crap out of any I have ever heard, and I have heard many. I wish I had a pair, but the ones I have work well enough, that I never gave them another thought. (That's what I tell my wife, and I'm sticking to that story) Tom
  11. I couldn't agree more! Today, music has become secondary to flash and bells and whistles. Pretty sad actually. Most "artists" are on videos because they have looks, a great effects producer, a great correographer <-sp , and tons of money pushing mediocre musicians, mediocre songwriting, and computer enhanced vocals. Stop the music world and let me off. Tom
  12. ...or you can take a mic and place it around the corner of a building on the non-wind direction side. Place it as close to the corner as possible without the wind actually hitting the mic. You should get the sound of the wind blowing by the wall around that corner. Tom

It has a lot to do with Vivendi......the same company that wiped out MP3.com for the indie performer.

  15. Donna, I guess a clean split isn't what I mean. What I mean is retaining the divide you have before mixing. From what I understand you are adding verb on the mixdown. This could be part of your problem as adding verb covers everything from the left side and right side. What this does is take your left side guitar and spill it over to the right side and the right side guitar spills over to the left side. Unless you are using a stereo verb unit that enables you to pan left and right, it is basically taking all the verb enhanced sounds and making them mono to a degree. There is still a splitting of your dry sounds but not as much as you had before the verb was added. I'll stop there in case I am way off base. Tom
  16. Donna, I went back and reread your original post. I think I may have misunderstood your goal. Answer this question for me. Do you want the acoustic guitar to sound different on each side, or do you just want them to sound separate? After reading, I am thinking you just want to have them sound independent from each other. If you want a clean split, I think I know what is wrong. Let me know, Tom
  17. Donna, I'm not intentionally being slow getting back to you. I am doing some researching and I also have my job and other things taking up my time. I'll be back soon with some more chat that will hopefully help. I'll leave you with this, if you have both an SM58 and 57 you may want to use those for future recordings. I have more to look at, then I'll be back, hopefully tomorrow. Thanks for your patience. Tom
  18. I would say yes....I think. However, let's try just working with mic placement. With that said, are you saying you use two mics each time you record one guitar? If so we will look into mic placement. I have one more question, do you have a guitar amp? Sorry, I can't give you a quick answer but we will eventually get there. Tom
  19. First off, may assume you are recording direct with the guitars? Second, does your verb unit have EQ for itself. Not track EQ but verb EQ. I need those two answered before I can attempt to help. Tom
  20. By the way, go here before you give up. http://support.dell.com/support/topics/glo...&redirect=1 Just have your service code written down. It's physically located on your computer somewhere. Tom
  21. I hate to ask a stupid question, but did you remove the software disk before you restarted? Sometimes, anytime software is left in the tower, it will give the "cannot locate floppy drive" error. Don't ask me why. Tom
  22. Well, I guess that explains the user name. Now, where are my socks?
  23. I'm sure you probably read these, but in case you didn't: Never though twice about it Features: 9Quality: 10Value: 10Overall: 9Musicman0418 from Indianapolis Experience: I own it Background: Musician Style of Music: Hardcore, Rock, Worship, blues/funk just for fun. Product: Music Man S.U.B. X02 4-String Bass Aug 1, 2006 - This bass is amazing! I've had it for about a year now, and it plays better than every. After having opportunities to play Stingrays, it reaffirmed my choice for the SUB. They feel the same, and they're both rock solid. The only difference as far as I'm concerned is the $800 that I didn't spend. I play it through a Carvin 1000 watt head and 4x10 cab. Check other reviews here
