Hi Gang

I'm working on building playlists for Songstuff and our sister sites. I am looking to feature the best music I can find... so I don't promise to playlist every song.... but I do want to highlight as many as I can.

We are looking for songs for:

  • YouTube
  • Spotify
  • SoundCloud

Add to that, I would like to select some of you to be featured, to be interviewed and perhaps even to perform. To help me decide, in addition to your song link, please give a little back story, to you, the writer/artist/producer, and to your song.

This is not a one off thing. Come back with future releases. Even if your song is not selected, at least it will be added to our community.

Cheers

John

Hey John

Im from Norway, and was somewhat active on this site many years ago, trying to learn a little about writing lyrics. Got lots of helpful pointers in here back then, but for maybe 10-15 years lyrics writing and music has been put aside. I recently picked up on it again, as I gained interest again trying to learn a little about making music in fruity loops.

Among other projects, I finally was able to make something out of one of my old posts here; Bloodsucker. Im still very much a novice both when it comes to writing lyrics and making music. Anyway; thought it might be fun to post my old Songstuff-projet here now that you present this opportunity (thank you for that). So here are two links: Come on, try it! Is something new Im working on, and Bloodsukcker as described abowe.

Cheers!

Hi John,

This is Robert Webb from Melbourne, Australia, making music as Disconnectica.  Many years ago I wrote music while at school and early uni, but left it for decades, occasionally writing a piano solo.  But a few years ago I set myself up to get back into it.  It's all created at the computer.  I also make videos for some of my tracks, and write software to create effects for those videos, allowing me to bring many of my interests together.

I tend to make dark theatrical alternative rock, at least that's the best description I've come up with.  But my pieces have many different styles.  My first album is almost ready to go, and after much tweaking I'm finally uploading some stuff to Spotify etc.  Below is the only instrumental on the album.

So this track was written as a soundtrack for a zombie movie or game.  Something along the lines of 28 Days Later, and also drawing inspiration from Hans Zimmer's work.  But also intended to work as a standalone track.

I’m so proud of this collaboration between Rich and I.  His attention to detail and musical interpretation of the lyric are outstanding.

As a lyric writer, it is incumbent that I collaborate with a music writer to develop a song out of my work and I couldn’t have asked for a better composer than Rich.  In this case, the process began with me contacting Rich, who I’d met on Songstuff when he had first expressed interest in working together on another song. This is our second collaboration.

John, if you choose to use this, I would humbly suggest interviewing MisterB as his approach to writing and creating music truly reflects more of the current trends.  His experience and knowledge are also quite impressive.

I wrote, what I thought to be a new genre.

If you go to the YouTube page, you can find the lyrics inside the description.

Blinding Lights - mixture of pop instruments, rock instruments, three part harmony, tempo that uses both straight and double time. Listen to how the background music tempo flows.  I bet you've not yet heard of anyone using this method before!

I've had to Mix it at a slow tempo first, export it to Melodyne Studio, make tempo changes to the tracks, export it to Reaper, then Master it.

Special Thanks to https://www.youtube.com/@Unfinishedsongs for allowing me to use #52 out of his channel.

LISTEN ... As watching may HURT YOUR EYES!
