  1. I never used to use a tuner as my pitch was pretty good. I could always 'hear' an E and go from there. BUT... For about 2 years I have been working close to a workshop wherein works a fitter who loves to sing all day. Unfortunatley he is tone deaf. To me this sounds like he is lurching up and down between keys constantly, and he has buggered up my pitch! So now I check tuning on a Boss GT5 (In dont wander Steve) or occasionally on the Rowland keys if on stage.
  2. Wordsworth, Tennison, Burns, Browning and Goldsmith have I missed any?
  3. Ceases is slightly better than deceases, but Im more interested in the content than the grammar. Its written as if by a `world weary / seen it all before' type person, who is at the same time saying all these very niave things. That is quite interesting.
  4. a dentists life and a windy drill with a host of golden cranial drill Yeah, nice one Steve!

    old instruments

No. I liked his guitar playing in `All of ME' though. Why is it good banjo players end up as Comedians or guitarists?

There is no makers name on the mandolin. It has a lot of detailed decorative inlay. The banjo has a makers name (cant recall at the mo) and was made in Chicago
  8. A blacklist should be compiled. People need to be warned of companies like this. If other music sites could be persuaded to cooperate, it might at least drive the offenders into pheonix mode.
  9. This subject matter seems a something of a theme for you Nigel. One of you must have been a heartbreaker. I agree with you both about the GReaper. Satan is the next obvious gender bender huh?
  10. This has got some of the off the wall symetry of Evan's stuff. I kile it er.... like it!

This is the best reply I got!
  12. nice. [smiley=thumb.gif]Us smooth animals are just jealous enough to steal arnt we? Cant help thinking the last line is wishful thinking though.
  13. Yes, stop triffling with the affections of these innocent women Nigel!
  14. For Delta Blues I honestly think all you need is some open tunings and a modicum of patience. The more advanced slide stuff has been developed later by the likes of Ry Cooder. Until such time as he turns teacher, your better of with the suck it and see approach.
  15. Ive been moving this week and have unearthed two ancient instruments from wayyy back. Niether are in a playable condition at the moment. They are:- A 5 string banjo (no bridge) A 12 (yes 12) string mandolin (no bridge). This was in my parents house when I was still a sprog. I am unsure of what to do with them. I am pushed for time at the moment, and ideas too. Any ideas?

    What's in a name?

My friends band was called the `Bloated Goat'. and they named a short lived band I was in called `Big Gas Bottle'. The story is that a couple of them were cycling around the Isle of Wight, when they stopped for the night at a pub where they chatted to the Landlord. Ian had to shout to make himself heard "what do you use? some kind of big gas bottle?" he said, when the noise abruptly stopped at the appropriate moment.
  17. I agree about the filler, but this is surreal!

    What's in a name?

OK, but did you find a name for your duo?
  19. Scarey stuff! In the UK, the weather forecasts are crap, so we would never know what was coming our way. Nice to know people still want to help in times of need
  20. Wow! this is great. Its sensitive but masculine, its bleak but hopeful, and I love the idea that youre blasting down a desert road stirring up a hugh dust trail while engaged in this train of thought. Masterful stuff!
  21. This does have beautiful imagery, but its dark despite of it. A hiding from reality sort of theme. The darkest part of it for me is that the narrator (you I s'pose) is quite happy about it. That is subtle! Did you intend this? I would really like to know.
  22. Nigel, be truthful. Did Evans write this for you? :

    Demo packages

We have a 4 track CD (getting a bit old now) we used to spread around to help generate some work, but we are pretty much down to personal copies now and dont bother anymore. Im not sure if we ever did actually win a gig on the strength of the CD.
