  1. Tom, John asked the same thing a while ago (3 months?) on this very area. Im not sure we were too helpful, but there was food for thought. Have a quick scan back. The thread was called "Can Anyone Recommend...."
  2. This may be my favourite poem in PoemStuff so far!
  3. I see. Thankyou for enlightening me John (& Evans). I was worried Id scared Nigel off. Interesting that I could not get the hang of this. It must be because Its mostly outside my experience. Or percieved experience anyhow.
  4. sensitive, respectful. Reads nicely too.
  5. Howdy, Rude the Dude here. I make flying visits here, between polishing my 6 pack, and topping up my tan and signing autographs. I may be too stupid to record my songs or put up a web page, but on the other hand Im only permitted to wear shorts in the wintertime. I produced my 1st computer tune in amiga-basic. My career has been winding down ever since. I play in a 7 piece soul / ska / misc band in Hampshire UK called Blown Out
  6. Are you a thalidomide victim Nigel?
  7. I thought I was the only one here that didnt understand it? You have a whole bunch more of confused souls? How about a clue?
  8. You got one for your birthday didnt you? Go and make an impression son.
  9. belly slapping is cheap.
  10. Sorry Nigel, you lost me on this one
  11. Not really knowledgable about these, but you obviously know what you want of a new instrument and thats the main thing. I thought you had a acoustic. Pickups do make a lot of difference. Good quality ones come on more expensive guitars. I imagine a single coil type would suit best. I took a year of searching before I found my last guitar. Tanglewood are a good range to start looking at though! Good luck Al.
  12. I think I agree with Steve, but Im open to dissuasion. Some poems have been set to music. Prayers have been set to music, does that make them lyrics? What about chants? What about rap? Is "do-wap-a-diddy-diddy" a lyric?
  13. Wham bam thank you Maam. Youre a machine Nigel!
  14. it was always Davy Grahams Angie in accoustic circles.
  15. The 1st (unaccompanied) one was embarrassing. I had never sung in front of people before and was very nervous about it. To settle in, I played a lengthy instrumental introduction (3 minutes or thereabout) to Pretty Polly. Finally I sang the opening line and... stopped dead. I had forgotten the 2nd line and had to stop. The last one (Saturday 24th July) could have been worse if I had my way. It was a wedding. This little kid kept invading the stage. I kept shooing him away as we were setting up (Im the nasty in the band). Later someone let him blather into one of the sax mics. It was the only one he could reach. By the time we were up and playing there was no stopping the little perisher. He pulled himself up, grabbed a tambourine, trod on my GT5 unit changing the guitar sound from clean accompaniment to balls out lead. Someone fetched him off, but within seconds he was back, robbed the drummer of one of his sticks, which buggered up the drums. He did this countless times. He was like greased lightning getting up on that stage. He made me too nervous to play well, I was watching him all the time. I could cheerfully have strangled the little sod. Turned out he was the brides son. Just as well I didnt then. Ive had a couple worse, but the memory is too painful...
  16. I saw a film a while ago with Samuel L Jackson & Robrt Carlyle. Jackson is wearing a kilt, and Carlyle teases him by proffering a cigarete and asking "fag?"
  17. I think its very insightful. It is a perfect description of what I go through most days.
  18. Just to muddy up the debate a little with a question, where does this leave prose?
  19. It reads beautifully, not entirely sure what most of it means, but a `passage of time' is my guess. Great blend of ideas & images.
  20. hmmm...I dont know. My point was rather that I still would be using it, but cannot. What else is about?
  21. A military mission is a sortie; and may I say I feel mighty proud that Ive resisted fobbing you off with something absolutely ridiculous. The Sortie All the chaps are ready sarge Well follow you into hell Waiting for your signal, Your boys will all die well Ill look out for little Jim His mum is worried so And now I ... AHHHHHHHHHhhhhh...! THUNK! :'(
