  1. Mark I agree....way too much autotune these days.  It's a bit lazy really I think.  Serves a GOOD purpose if used in moderation....I don't have it but have had a producer use it once in a studio situation.  Sometimes you do a really good take but there;s just that ONE iffy note.  In that situation I think it can be a helpful tool, but not AS an effect, which when used heavily is kinda what it sounds like I think.

  2. Sorry for your friend. So many people affected hey.  Can't believe it's got this bad.  Now a state of emergency?  I hope they are just over reacting and taking every precaution rather than it actually turning out to be as horrific as they are worried about.

Just found out that the house we were renting a little over twelve months ago there in Emma parade in Winmalee has been burned down.  That whole street is practically gone!

Feeling so lucky that the twists and turns of life led us away from that area now.

I'd like to donate directly to the bushfire brigade.

  3. Yep, true, that's another one...too quiet in the mix.

Thing is, by disguising or hiding something we don't like, there is no room for improving. It's almost a lazy way of approaching something isn't it?

Taking the masks off those vocals forces us to DO something about whatever it is we're not entirely happy with.

  4. Thanks Tom, yep I agree about writing to your own strengths.

It can be hard if what you enjoy listening to music/vocalists that you can't possibly emulate, but this is where being realistic with yourself helps.

I think if you sing like you really mean it, like your heart and soul really FEELS it, then it doesn't matter if you've got balls or not.  :)

  5. Thanks David ;) Be reassured, I am as wary and as skeptical as they come and I fully realise that what I listened to last night was a VERY long advertisement for his online courses (and of course his books) Business is business, though it shouldn't be when it comes to spiritual matters.

BUT, I found that within that "ad" there was some quite interesting food for thought. At the very least some perspectives that I personally hadn't taken the time before to consider at any great length. There were also some good stories, whether they be true or not,

The thing with religion, (I reckon) is that so much of it is just basic common sense and a good foundation for humans to actually co-exist with some degree of peace and harmony but unfortunately, and far too often, it's marred by human individuals own personal agenda's which usually amount to greed.

So I'm a "picker". Flitting about from one ideology to another and taking from them what resonates with me personally.

  6. Geez, I'd forgotten exactly what I'd put in this "blog" here.

I'm surprised my other 'stalker" daughter hasn't made me aware of it.

Kinda weird when your own kids google you and read everything you write. LOL! Not to worry - she's a good girl and hopefully learns from my mistakes.

I still have anxiety problems. Drives me nuts, but I guess this skin is the only one I have so I should be grateful for that.

Without it I'd be a real mess. :)

  7. Blimey! How old is your daughter? Is it just me? Or are drugs a lot easier to get hold of now? Where do the pushers hang out? If the kids can get the drugs easily, why can't the cops get the pushers?

    She's 20.

    Old enough to know better!

They ARE easier to get these days because theres simply so many more drugs OUT there.

The pushers? Look in the schoolyards.

KIDS are dealing drugs. And what's the penalty? A slap on the wrist.

  8. It was Buddah...hash, whatever. Something nasty mixed in with it probably.

Anyway, how bizarre life is. Seems that one of my daughters is into dabbling with all kinds of drugs I've just discovered.

Kinda coincidental that I should revise some of my own experiences only to find that one of my own is going down that path.

Nothing new for HER but we'd thought she'd grown up a little and grown some common sense.

She's read this...but of course..."it will never happen to ME".

  9. We have to stand up against a wall. When somebody stands next to you, you always ask the question? Is he or isn't he? :-/

That had me laughing out loud first thing in the morning.

Actually there was one time I wondered myself.......

I had taken the kids into the toilets on the train station and this security guard woman...Large-ish lady she was, walked in and unlocked the staff toilets.

I was washing my hands and gathering up my shopping bags getting ready to leave when I noticed my daughter staring at the cubicle this "woman" had walked into.

There was a gap under the partitions see.....so we could see her feet and her feet were pointing TOWARDS the toilet bowl and she was doing this strange rocking thing on the balls of her feet. A really "masculine" kind of rocking thing.

Who knows WHAT she was doing really ??? but we wondered.....

  10. I know exactly what you mean John and I have tried to "just write!" but they always end up FEELING contrived and I'm not satisfied at all by the whole experience.

I find that "people watching" can be a good way to become inspired if you yourself have no emotions churning and burning to get out ( and sometimes we don't....and that's fine!)

Because I don't drive I get to do a lot of people watching on public transport....buses trains etc

You would not BELIEVE some of the people I have met.... from strippers to con artist gamblers, drug addicts, kids who have run away from home because their dad beats the crap out of them everytime he gets drunk.....and a lot of nice little old ladies with PLENTY of stories to share :)

Why not give it a go?

    Do something different?

Connecting with other people and THEIR lives (or just observing and imagining) can sometimes end up with YOU feeling some kind of strong emotion inside.

After all........if we keep doing the same thing we'll inevitably end up with the SAME result.

At least.....that's what Dr Phil says........lolol!

  11. A great story but probably a little too long as lyrics? [smiley=luxhello.gif]

Seriously, imagine trying to make this story into a lyric. Why not?

I don't know if I could be so clever to eloquently capture all that in three and a half minutes :)

The thing I find the MOST funny about it all now was the way that creepy guy who worked in the adult shop spoke to me on the telephone.

Like I would get my kicks just because it had it WRITTEN on it....lol! Just too weird.

Thanks for the read and for commenting!

  12. Wow! What an amazing place! I'd love to live somewhere like that! It's fantastic! :)

    It sure is different!

My husband - Richard sticks his toothbrush in a 'hole" high up in the bathroom wall.

He has toothbrush paranoia you see...

Thinks the kids are using his toothbrush. They probably are....lazy sods.

Spiders live in the holes too though.

There is one that comes out every night near the tap in the ensuite and "hangs" there.

I don't mind. We can live in harmony.

I don't really know why I wrote all that.......but anyway.

    :)

  13. What a nice ( and funny) post Steve.

    Thanks :)

Interesting to read from your perspective as a stay at home dad.

Yeah, I can see how much MORE isolating that would be to be in that position from what you wrote.

I wrote this "sweet potato" thing about eight months ago actually but I still go back and read it to remind myself that I should be doing MORE to "nurture myself".

Heck, ain't nobody else gonna do it for me round here, lol!

It's one of the reasons I took up belly dancing. I'm STILL trying to rejoice in all my wobbly bits!

Trying to do something with music is an ongoing thing.

Moving to Perth has not exactly helped, but you never know...I'm in touch with a guitarist right now.

He's having panic attacks at the mere THOUGHT of performing but I'll keep working on him, lol!

Whether or not there is actually somewhere TO perform over here is another thing again though we might try some writers nights...just for fun.

Anyway.....Thanks again for your encouraging words.

    Tracy
