  9. Welcome to Songstuff, Dixxyblue. Do you have the songs along with your lyrics, or just the lyrics? A couple of suggestions would be to start a topic on the collaboration board: https://forums.songstuff.com/forum/119-collaborations/ If you're looking for feedback on your lyrics, you could also start a topic for the lyrics you would want to have critiqued by the members, that would be one topic per lyric. https://forums.songstuff.com/forum/224-lyric-critique/ Peggy
  10. I wanted to share this topic by @Alicatt because it ask a good question about seasonal inspiration for creating that you also also might be interested in.
  11. I don't think that the particular season that I'm in, more or less inspires me, but it's the season that I'm writing for, that inspires me. That is, I think people are looking and listening to music that reflects seasonal variations and mood and I tend to put myself in that mindset when writing. This is helpful for me not only in writing but also in thinking through when I would want to release a song, knowing that preparations take time. I have a topic with 2 or 3 questions about seasonal variations and release time. I like to think of it as preparing a winter song release in summer. https://forums.songstuff.com/topic/57731-seasonal-variances-in-music-release-and-listening/#comment-370536
  12. Welcome to Songstuff, Cherie!
  13. If you perform your music for an audience of 1 or more and/or record and distribute your music, do you consider yourself an entertainer? Or asked another way; If you are wanting those that like or appreicate your music, to be fans or enthusiasts of your musical endeavors, do you consider yourself an entertainer? Whether you do or don't consider yourself, as a musician, an entertainer it would be interesting to know why or any other thoughts you have about it.
  14. Thanks, Steve!! This was a great read and listen from start to finish.
  15. Do you use the YouTube Community Tab? If you do use it, it would be great to discuss your experience. How you use it, any advice you may have for other musicans, or anything else you might have to say about the feature. You don't use it? Are you interested? But, If you aren't using the YouTube feature, for discussion, I've laid out a few thoughts about it's functions and possiblities. The YouTube Community Tab is a valuable tool for musicians. By using this feature, you can communicate directly with your fans and keep them engaged between video uploads. One of the biggest benefits of using the Community Tab is that it helps foster a sense of association and allows you to stay connected and that's needed to grow a strong fanbase community. The YouTube Community Tab is like having your own mini social media platform within YouTube. Using the Community Tab can bring a whole new level of engagement and interaction to your channel. This not only helps build and maintain a loyal fanbase but also allows you to better understand their preferences and interests. It's a great way to involve them in your musical journey in a more personal and interactive way. Alright, let's dive into the YouTube Community Tab and explore some of its features! Community posts can include polls, quizzes, GIFs, text, images, and video. One of the key features of the Community Tab is the ability to post text updates. This enables you to keep your fans informed about your upcoming music videos and releases, behind-the-scenes content and insights or any other exciting news you want to share. Another cool feature is the option to create quizzes and polls. With polls you can create image polls and text polls. And whether it's asking for video suggestions or getting opinions on a specific topic, quizzes and polls are fun and interactive ways to involve your fans in decision-making. You can ask for feedback on various topics such as video ideas, merchandise designs, or even personal preferences. They not only help you gather valuable insights but can also make fans feel more involved in your creative process. Additionally, the Community Tab allows you to use and share GIF's, images and video with your fans. Whether it's to express an emotion, a sneak peek from your upcoming videos or candid moments behind the scenes these visual updates help add an extra layer of authenticity and intimacy to your musician-fan relationship. Lastly, YouTube also offers exclusive content posting options within the Community Tab. You can reward your most dedicated fans by sharing exclusive videos or bonus content that only community members have access to. This creates a sense of exclusivity and appreciation among loyal subscribers and fans. Overall, the YouTube Community Tab provides a lot of features that empower you as a musician to foster meaningful connections with your fanbase outside of regular video uploads. So, don't miss out on the opportunities that the YouTube Community Tab offers for engaging with your fans on YouTube. You gotta take advantage of it! It's an awesome feature that can really help you connect and make them feel like they're part of something special. Your fans will definitely appreciate the effort and it will enhance their overall experience with your music.
  16. Welcome to Songstuff, Kacper. Good to have you join the community.
  17. Hi Mark, Welcome to Songstuff! Peggy
  18. Welcome to Songstuff! Listening now ..
  19. Thanks Dave, but most of my stuff, that's completed, are lyrics but I'm working on getting some songs completed, too.
  20. How did you choose your artist or band name? I must admit, I saw a similar question to this on a CDbaby's Facebook post. But I thought it was such a fun question and one that would also be pretty interesting to know about Songstuff members and how they got their artists names or band names. And to take this a little farther: For those that have mixed genre songs, do you use different names? If you use multiple names, what was your reasoning behind doing so? Has multiple names been beneficial or a pain to manage and promote?
  21. Shoot them your question. They're pretty good with responding in a timely way.
  22. If you have a publisher, they are responsible for making sure you're paid the money that you're entitled to. If you are self-published you need to do that on your own. Songtrust is a publishing administrator and yes, a lot of people use them. They work with your PRO and other global societies by registering your songs and collecting all your publishing royalties including performance, mechanical and micro-sync. BMI collects performing rights royalties The MLC collects digital mechanical royalties in the US. Yes, Songtrust charges a fee for their services and a one time fee of $100.00. Here's a pretty good read that may help. https://aristake.com/what-is-soundexchange-ascap-bmi-pros-hfa-mechanicals-and-how-to-get-all-your-royalties/
  23. Good to hear you say that. It's just me expressing my personal opinion but what a garage pit/app TikTok is .... not to mention the exposure with access, storage and collection of personal information. I wouldn't recommend using it for ANYONE and that definatly covers musicians, artists or any creative wanting to expand their reach.
