  1. About anything with Stu Hamm or Dave Larue and im mezmorized !!!!
  2. Cant say how happy I am . Finally got finished having my 1973 super six gone through . Its pretty much the same head as a twin reverb with 6 ten inch speakers instead of 2 twelves in the twin . After letting it sit in the corner for almost 20 years ,after we popped a speaker in it jamming one night ,I finally decided to go through it . It actually still had all the original tubes in it that still worked . I had the speakers checked out and only had to work on the one i knew was bad besides glueing a couple dust capps back on . A new set ov Sovtecks and Sprague caps and a few resistors and it sounds totally awesome. I mainly wanted it to play the piezo side of my JP6 through ,and its working better than Id imagined . I never really heard the shimmering highs people talk about with Fender amps till now . Dont even know why Im postin this except that Im jacked !!!
  3. You are definatly right about how awesome Danny Gatton was. I grew up right outside of D.C. and used to see Gatton on a fairly regular basis at some of the bars there. I even actually met him as one of my friends new him and introduced us after a show one night. Though Im pretty much a hard rocker ,Redneck Jazz will live forever !!!!!
  4. Although Ive never played a Tele in my life ,Ive always admired the way John 5 incorparates country licks into hard rock. Heres a clip from you tube showing a couple riffs that I think he does an exelent job showing how its played. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdyTw43NZCI Best of luck with your licks !!!
  5. Dont really know if this is relevant to what your talking about ,but I always play in stereo just for the awesomeness of the fullness of the sound. I run my guitar into a Radial Bigshot ABY which eliminates any ground loop issues [thanks to the advice from our friend Tapper Mike] which then spits my signal into two processors and my up front pedals ,which i can set up with whatever effects i want on either side ,then from there to two amps [sometimes both guitar, usually 1 guitar and 1 bass]for even more tone difference ,or i can jack directlly into my digital recorder on different channels. Last but not least i use my delays for even more seperation between the two sides. Now if I could just get my timing consistent on my looper Id have it goin on !!!!!
  6. I love the OIO .Beautiful guitar ,sounds awesome [at least in the demo]. i love compound radius necks.Dont know about the wilkerson copy bridge [floyd rose fan myself] Pretty pricy from aristides website though if i converted my euro's right.
  7. UPDATE : Got my Radial Bigshot ABY today and gotta say it works like a champ. I would definatlly recomend this product to anyone encountering ground loop issues like I was. And foremost I would like to thank TapperMike for the info !!! Your the man !!! David
  8. Heres a link to my flickr page with all my guitars. The majority were in the previous post ,but this is all of them [For now anyways !!!!!] https://www.flickr.com/photos/dmmhrcg/
  9. Yes indeed.I love fujien Ibanezes, [even with the IBZ pickups], i have about 4 more i didnt post. I also love the carvins. For the money ,you cant beat them. Appreciate the nice comments !!!! All together i have 25 guitars but some i lost the pics of when my old computer crapped out.
  10. Here are pics of some of my favorites. Couldnt figure out how to make the pictures show big but they will if you click on them.
  11. I was just splitting my signal at the guitar with a simple Y cable.I have considered ABY boxes ,but this is the first ive seen that actually says it has something to kill the ground loop. Called all the places I know in town and no one has it in stock ,but they all said they could order me one and have it here in a few days. Im definately going for it. Thanks for the info and I will post results when I get it.
  12. I have a USA Strat plus ,with the roller nut and Lace Sensor pickups that was doing the same thing. I bet iI oiled and cleaned the nut and set up the guitar 5 times before I finally tried angling the trem claw slightly , after seeing it in a vidio. It actually seems to have worked [knock on wood]. I still dont understand why with myself as well as 99% of the people i hear of having this problem ,its always on the G ,and if you hit the trem again it comes back to tune. By the way the angle was putting slightly less pressure on the E B and G .[that part of the claw slightly closer to the neck] Best of luck !!!!
  13. This question is for all the gigging musicians that use multiple amps. It started when I got a John Petrucci JP6 ,with a piezo pickup and outputs for the piezo and the humbuckers ,which I would plug into different amps. When doing this ,I would get a ground loop hum. I finally started using an adapter ground lift plug to use on one of the amps that made the issue go away. Then i figured if I could split the signal with that guitar ,I could do the same with my other guitars. My current rig has me splitting the signal from the guitar into seperate pre amp/processors out to my Carvin halfstack on one side ,and my Mesa or a Fender bass amp on the other. The stereo sound is to kill for and with the dual processed sound combinations ,and the big difference between the amps ,the sound combinations I can get are endless. But I still get some slight background noise ,and am as concerned about safety as I have taken the ground away from one of the amps. I am considering trying a power conditioner to hopefully finish the background noise ,and be able to have both amps fully grounded. So I guess my question is how do proffesional musicians deal with this ,as Id imagine ,most have used multiple amps at some point of time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  14. Rudi If you think their crap,I dont understand why you would still be using them for 15 years !!! I was simply retering to peoples issues with setting them up properly and easilly.
  15. I have quite a few guitars so I dont usually have to change them that often.but Ill stick with obiosly when I break one,or if I notice them sounding flat or loosing sustain. HINT ; If you wash your hands before you grab your axe, youll be suprised how much longer they will last. As far as people bashing floyd rose's,thats either from them not having an understanding of how a floyd works,or not having done it before and gotten frustrated and dont want to try again. Simply put,its a balancing act.string tension v/s spring tension. You have to take off all the strings to properly clean the guitar,so the best way is to block the bridge before you start taking off the strings, clean and dress the fingerboard and frets, clean and wax the body, restring and bring back up to tune after streching the strings out,and remove the blocks. You might have to tweak it a tad more after but usually youll be dead on.Some exellent vids on youtube on doing this. I can usually acomplish all this in less than 30 minutes.taking my time.
  16. I like you Mike have the sickness.im up to 23 guitars and love every one of them. ive got gibsons, carvins, jacksons,a lot of ibanez [all f plants ],a fender,a PRS etc. The next guitar i wanted was a music man John petrucci model with the piezo bridge butwhen i went to test drive them it took 5 different guitars before i found one that the electronics worked correctly, kinda shook my confidence in them, but the one that did work correctly was amazing, and i still want one.
  17. all of the above ,especially................I suppose what to take from that is to make sure that every now and then you play without any effects to make sure that you're hitting all the notes perfectly and smoothly, don't try to lie to yourself and others with lots of heavy fuzz and stuff like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!! once you get it down clean, then lay the effects on it and youll be awesome !!!!..
  18. Either one would have its advantages to start on.The electric would definatly be easier on your fingers, but as said ,then you neeed an amp, cables etc.As for an acoustic,it will be harder to play somewhat, but if you ever get an electric afterwards, your hand strength will be more than sufficiant to tear it up.Whatever you get, look for something that has good action [strings fairly close to the fretts but dosnt buzz when playing]and even though it wont be the most expensive guitar in the world,Id look for something you plan on keeping. If you figure out what you want, take the dollar amount ,and look at used instead of new,you should be able to get something pretty nice, Best of luck !!!!!!
  19. 100 to 1 its the output jack on the guitar.try wiggling the cable in the jack as the strings are vibrating on the guitar,or reapeatedly insert and remove the chord, and see if you get any sound.that is the most common and probable thing to break on a guitar.
  20. i know this sounds too simple but ive had a guitar chord short out and do that.I could kick it and it would stop and move around some and it would start back till I finally broke down and threw it out.
  21. Ive got all the guitars mentioned above xcept a Warmoth and they are all SO different.I love them all but they all have different places in sounds that im looking for at a given time.but i will put a plug in for carvin.I have two I had made and one i bought used,For the money you cant beat them,You can get a neck through with your choice of options and the most beautifull finish jobs ive ever seen for well under 2000
  22. i usually push up E,B,GandD,and pull the A and bottom E to make sure i dont go beyond the edge of the neck, but sometimes i might go the opposite directions on the middle strings depending on which notes i plan on playing next. I can get two tone bends but ill turn my head when i do cause ive about had my eye put out from string breakage. Usually if im goin that extreme,Im pullin on a floyd rose.
  23. That site had been up for quite a while, and indeed it is a good tool for working on all kinds of stuff like lead progressions, etc. I also use the backing tracks on youtube, and alot of their lessons to help learn different stuff. I also use active bass to build bass lines or just to jamm to. Keep on rockin !!!!!!
  24. You have to use both to a certain extent to really be versitale, example:
