    Amen!

The possibility to quickly find the thread and keep it organized is a great asset to any music-related forum.

Facebook? Nah. The communication is not organized logically, you can't post screenshots and attach other stuff to the post, etc.

My vote always goes to the forums!

As fashion moves forwards, I think old tech does bubble up again. Not to previous levels when that was the trending tech, but at least much better than the obscurity forums have been languishing in.

I think there is a degree of resurgence going on just now as many users are realising that social platforms are not the all-singing all-dancing platforms they once thought they were. The issue now it to attract back some old forum users and to spread the word to the many people who have never used them and have no idea of the benefits to be had.

For Songstuff, we are reinvesting in growing our community again. Unlike modern social platforms, our users have a direct effect on what we provide. Our members directly shape our community to be what our members need. You sure can’t say that about most social platforms!

Agree! Music forums provide an unparalleled space for musicians, songwriters, and producers to connect and grow. Unlike the chaos of social media, forums offer focused communities, professional interactions, and in-depth discussions that truly benefit our craft. The supportive environment and opportunities for constructive feedback are invaluable. It's a game-changer for anyone serious about their music journey! #MusicForums #MusicianCommunity

    Well said Reena!

  3. I think people often focus on how far the next step took them… but really, as artists, we are better thinking about how much capability we add each time through the cycle. After all, if we take a huge step without adding the capability, we are swamped. We need to add capability with each iteration along with the set goals, otherwise we only add a rod for our own back.

When I was a kid, parents wouldn’t buy what fitted now. They bought things with room to grow into. Something a bit bigger than you needed, so that you could grow into it. Then by the time it was fitting you, you would ideally be buying the next thing that had room to grow into.

Music marketing wise, that is what we need to be doing. Add something into the mix that we can grow into. Each iteration we expand our capabilities and set appropriate targets.

  4. We suffer for our art, truly we do.

Much of what you are going through is painful because it is your first time through it or you don’t take the right approach when you did it previously.  My point is, the work you do now, you get to reap the benefits many times over as you build up on, with future releases already having working methods, tools and templates in place. The pain you feel now is so great because you are having to put it all in place. Were you a smaller artist, with smaller ambition, you would not need do so much. The truth is it takes investment of time and/or money to move onwards and upwards. There is no magic wand.

  5. You’ve set the direction, you’re already a good way along the journey… so keep going, one foot in front of the other, occasional checks that you are on the right path and head back down to focus on where you are putting your feet. We have a good plan, for multiple releases… and all your decisions are now taken in line with the plan, which saves you a lot of wasted effort and miss-steps. Believe me, the relief only comes when you see the fruits of your efforts and they are in the ballpark or beyond of your expectations.

I wish you could share some of your work.

I will be soon. I have some stand alone singles being recorded, plus I have enough material for 2-3 EPs followed by an album under my own name, and enough for an EP under Deep Red Sea. As yet none planned with bodhran though most still have to be arranged, so there’s still scope, especially for some of the acoustic songs that could work with a modern folk vibe.

Are you planning to release any music Bridget?

  7. Francisco Partners bought over Native Instruments and Izotope in 2021 to form the Soundwide Group. They later added Plug-in Alliance to the group.

However, there have been mixed reviews since they were taken over.

A number of concerns have been raised about the direction of the brands since they were taken over. The brands have lost a number of key figures since that takeover. This includes important staff in research and product development. Recent releases, particularly from Izotope, have been pointed to with disappointment at the lack of new features. As a result Izotope have been losing market share to competitors like Waves and LiquidSonics.

Company sales can be both good and bad. Business as usual for a while, but change usually comes before too long.

I absolutely hate moving my studio. I did it in September 2021, again in January 2022, and will probably have to in another 8 - 12 months. I took pictures and documented everything (like you), so that I could do even basic things like reassembling the main desk. Hoping this one's permanent for you and that you can create good work there.

    Thanks Steve! Fingers crossed.

Glad to see the progress with your move and studio set up bud. This post is very useful since I just moved this week (as you know) and I should start setting up the studio over the next couple weeks. Although, that's one hell of a set up to set up for you there. damn

Thanks! I have a lot of recording to do! It took ages to put together. I have a bunch of stuff to sell. Amps, monitors, possibly an analog desk, a bunch of other things, but we’ll see.

  9. He’s worked really hard at it Greg and has a pretty unique approach. Just for clarity I don’t mean naked, covered in gummie bears in the dark. :)

Awareness is a huge component. Much more than the typical “can you feel that sensation?” type of approach, which really only scratches the surface and plays down the importance of awareness to improvement and understanding.

P.S. The appearance of any unexpected gummie bears is purely coincidental.

It's a shame,at least for me anyway, that this couldn't be done without being dependent on Facebook

Actually…. It isn’t. This announcement is 2 years old. We recently split the independent music stage off into it’s own site, independentmusicstage.com, and will be opening song submissions very, very soon. We are building complimentary social media for promotion but submission will be through the website :)
