Good man! Don't let your balls drop...
-
Hey fakejosh!
Welcome to songstuff. Sorry I can't throw any light on this, but there must be some online references somewhere? I guess you've already looked at this?
Reading thru some of their success stories is quite enlightening...
-
Hey mooneyes! Did you have any luck finding this thing yet?
-
Sounds like Amiga Workbench...
-
i did the google search and while i did find some neat stuff i'm looking for a certain, specific unit.
other than being small, black, and round i really don't know how to describe it, i think it may have even been a dr. beat?
thanks again

Have a look at this!Dr Beat

Errr... yeah, so, what is the best day job for a guitarist?
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Bed tester

I think if your songs (or talent) is less than great! Then you will always be disapointed. It's good to know your limitations...
-
I didn't have any callouses in my fingers... just marshmellows!!!
Thats what I have at the moment!
-
seems like..., but you can be VERY proud about it
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I just don't trust the tuner I have. It's onboard my Boss GT5, but I'm sure it changes the pitch every time I use it. So I stopped using it. I think my ear is better than the tuner anyway. I also think my keyboard may be slightly flat...
-
I used to use these.
But I haven't been able to find them for years!
They are Fender .71. You can see they are quite small! (Thats a pound coin there)
-
Am I the only one that tunes to the keyboard by ear then...?
-
My first guitar was borrowed from my neighbour. It was a spanish guitar of indeterminate origin. The body was split right the way around giving the whole a 'bellows' effect. The action was so high, it was impossible to play anything above the third fret and playing a 'G' chord sounded out of tune. ... I loved it!
I started work shortly after this period in my life and quickly saved up £12 for my very own classical guitar. It is a 'Kent Valencia' and I still have it! It still plays well but the tone is not very good although at the tim, I thought it was the bees testi!
Shaortly after this, I bought my first electric guitar which was from my friends mothers mail order catalogue. I think it was a 'Hondo' Les Paul. It was crap and I promptly sold it.
The next was another Les Paul copy but I can't remember the make! Might have been a Jedson...? Sold that in favour of a CSL L6s (Les Paul type guitar) I remember that as a lovely guitar to play. Had it nicked!
Next up was a Fender Telecaster deluxe. Cost me about 4 weeks wages at that time. Most expensive piece of firewood I ever bought. Kept it for about 3 weeks and then swapped it for...
Antoria Les Paul copy. That was about 27 years ago and I still have this guitar now. It plays beautifully and I would never get rid of it!
Encore Accoustic bought about a year ago. Needs new strings.
Aria STG. Strat copy. Bought for me for Christmas. Plays well sounds pretty good considering the price tag on it! and looks very cool leaning against my computer table...
The only other guitars I've owned were two accoustics. Both of non descript origins and tones.

you're right, you can trash most of mccartney's songs...
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Thats a little unfair! I think I prefer MacCartneys stuff! Lennon was crap on his own, turning out dreary protest songs and slushy love songs. Macca went on to turn out some great pop albums!

Hang on - jumping the gun here. Cable first. I need to change mine - it's started crackling. Somebody have good guitar cable advice?
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Yeh. Buy the best you can afford! Good cables are essential, cheap cables are a nightmare. Not only do they reduce the signal, but they cause all sorts of noise problems. (like crackling) I've had my two main guitar cables for over 20 years! Very expensive custom made but worth every penny!
-
I think they've earned 'classic' status. I am not a huge fan of the Beatles. I do like some of their stuff though.
-
No not at the time. The 'were' relates to them not being around anymore. Surely 'classic' can only be conveyed later. But, anyway, you either love the Beatles or you don't so none of it matters anyway!
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I disagree! rolls up sleaves
The nature of the magazine you were reading would not consider portraying Destiny's Child as the worst rock band ever! Mainly because they are a POP act. The same goes for the Beatles. They do not, never have and never will be classed as a Rock band. Therefore, in the eyes of the readership of that dubious publication, the Beatles suck! I am not defending the Beatles, I think lots of their stuff DID suck! But I dare say a magazine entitled 'Hip-Hop Hooray', or 'Jazz, the Canadian angle' would find it easy to assemble 100 reasons why Motorhead suck!
-
Probably! But they were Classic all the same....
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Not at the time! They have become a 'classic' pop band. Nothing to do with rock at all!
-
In the latest issue of Classic Rock magazine, there are 100 reasons why the Beatles suck.
Behave, or i'll list them all!
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Is that because the Beatles were a POP band...?
-
Bloody hell! I still use a piano and my ears!

for acoustic I normally buy gibson 0.13, but just because is the only brand that has 013's for acoustics down in madrid...
as for electric, which is my favourite, I'm more specific, I buy each string separate, all dean markley's:
- 1st .013
- 2nd .018
- 3rd .020 (plain)
- 4th .030
- 5th .042
- 6th .052
Heavy!
Bordering on Bass strings there Hari!
Not too much difference between the 2nd and 3rd either! An interesting combination.
-
I'm still in the 'fluff' stage I think...?
-
When I was gigging, I changed strings regularly. Not so now. I used Ernie Ball mainly, 9-42, but for a few years I used 10-48, becuase they were less prone to breaking. I can't say I noticed much difference between any of the major brands as far as sound quality went...?
-
If you're not sure of the notes to sing, find them first on the keyboard or guitar. Once you know what they should be, it's easier to follow the melody line.

How did you learn to play?
in Performance

Me! I spent hours and hours in my room with a chord book just learning the basic chords. When I joined my first band, I never even knew the difference between a major and a minor scale! And I joined as lead guitarist! I wishh I had taken lessons, and for any budding guitar players out there, GET SOME LESSONS! It'll save you a lot of hard work.
