  1. I spent about 30 minutes on this site. And still didn't figure out how to download any samples...? Ended up downloading and installing something called µTorrent. And can't figure that out either...? Gave it up as a bad job in the end!

  2. I've had a look at the rules and the panel of judges. Everything looks to be pretty cosher as far as I can see!

    3. Entrant retains all ownership rights to all submitted song(s). IISC will not have any ownership rights to any song(s) submitted.

Which is good! The winners are also placed on a promotional CD

    7. Compilation: Entrant agrees that should his/her song(s) be selected as a winner, IISC shall have the right to include the winning song(s) on an Indie International Compilation CD to be used for promotional purposes only. If this compilation is created, the CD will not be for sale and limited copies will be available to winners at no cost for their own purposes.

The entrance fee is to cover the prizes and costs! Pretty standard fare! $30 isn't excessive. And you will get an evaluation of your song for that! Plus they appear to be limiting the entants to 150 per genre.

  3. Damn you Finn! I want egg n soldiers now... Haven't had that in AGES...

But you're all wrong on the Marmite front... there maybe only one of me, but I'm far more right, so it makes it up ;)

    *giggles and runs around*

I agree with you. I hate the stuff. I use it to repair the soles on my walking boots!

  4. It could just be the familiarity of the song! When you buy a new album, you tend to play it to death! Then you get used to it and think it's not the dogs dangly bits after all! When you say you 'scrap' them, do you mean you just don't like them any more? Or do you physically erase them?

  5. :) So there you go! Glad we were able to help! We're going to toast your success with marmite! On a more serious 'note' A chord is just a collection of notes! Get your buddy to register here and we can argue the toss with him! :)
  6. Hi,

Pretty much every song I've ever written to music has used chords through verses and chorus, and recently, I was playing one and my friend objected.

I tried toast once, but it wasn't a raging success I have to say!

  7. Hi Anne

Lately I've notched it down. I sing every day and I do some scales and enunciation exercises once a week.

Most common exercises I do are:

Starting with a Doh in my lower mid range: Doh Rae Me Fa So Fa Me Rae Doh Doh' Doh where Doh' is an octave above the starting Doh :) I then move up a semitone and repeat the exercise. When I get to the top of my range I go back to the original note and work down to the bottom of the range. I do this using different vowel and consonant combinations like all La's, or Me's etc.

I sometimes do: Do Me Rae Fa Me So Fa La So Tee La Doh' Tee Mee' Doh'

I also do vowel consonant combos on the same pitch like Ta Tay Taw Tee Too, Ra Ray Raw Ree Roo etc. I often use this as a basic warm up.

Other than that I just sing songs. :)

    Cheers

    John

I'm glad I don't live next door to you...
