  1. I think theres a nice balance to be reached with lessons. Everyone has things they can improve on, and a lot of these things you won't ever think about. That being said there are other things that you're just wasting your money on because especially with the internet you can teach yourself a fair bit.
  2. Think logically about it, where would you breathe if you were speaking the words? plan ahead, write the words out and put apostrophe's where you are going to take a breath. The recording thing is something you'll get used to with time. If you're recording yourself, just keep in mind that you can do it as many times as you need to!
  3. Your voice is fine! It actually has a nice quality. But I definitely think that some work on breathing (where to breathe, how to breathe properly) would really help. I find at times it sounds like your driving down a bumpy road and singing along with the radio. Properly supporting your voice is so important to sounding really polished. Open your mouth too, really spit the words out. And don't be afraid to sing loud! Good potential though! Can't wait to hear more stuff from you!
  4. Before you switch on the distortion try and be able to play everything clean. Then you'll find you'll probably need less gain to make the lines sound goood
  5. Started with a Boss ME-50, moving slowly to individual stomp boxes though. I feel like I have so much more control over everything now. Visual Sound is my current favourite for pedals on a budget.
  6. It's really hard to get a good sense of what the problem is here. I find when people tell me I'm not "carrying well" it's usually a way of say that there's something they don't dig, but they are unable to pinpoint it and they use vague terms. If you could link to a recording then we'd get to hear what your voice sounds like, and it might help to better identify the issue
  7. I know it's been said a thousand times, but honestly, go to the guitar store, and if you've learned enough to play a little, try out all the guitars in your price range and buy the one that sounds and plays the best. A guitar is a very personal thing, it's very difficult to say "you'll love this one" without knowing what type of neck you like, the exact tone you want, even things like the look of the guitar. If you don't like how it looks, you aren't going to want to play it! Good luck though, I think some of my happiest times playing were when I was starting!
  8. Wolfgang Muthspiel on "T.G" from the album "The Promise".
  9. Honestly, i think everybody should sing.if you enjoy, go for it. I sang in an honour choir for 11 years with people worse than you There's definitely room for improvement, but there always will be, no matter who you are!
  10. "No longer can I call a home, the place I’ve known so well But what may come upon the road, right now I cannot tell" -Bryan John Appleby
