whos your favorite singer and WHY!!??

Recommended Posts

John McCrea is my absolute favourite vocalist - candid, eloquent, and acrid.

Regina Spektor's voice has an interesting timbre, if only she stayed in tune the whole time she'd be hands-down my favoured female vocalist.

Donald Fagan easily has the most effortless voice in modern music, it's very soothing.

That's a hard question...

Well for voice:

Amy Lee (from the band Evanescence) has such a beautiful voice that even I (who finds it necessary to sing along to everything) don't even open my mouth when I'm listening to an Evanescence song.

Hayley Williams (from the band Paramore) is an amazing singer; she has such a strong, distinct voice. I've never heard anything like it. (P.S.: I'm a total Parawhore!)

Regina Spektor has such a unique, interesting, voice. I'm completely in love with it. But, as someone above mentioned she has trouble staying in tune.

But for lyrics it's hands down Adam Young, better known as Owl City (Owl City is not a band, rather a 'stage name' for Adam) is so creative that most people, when listening to what he says, claims he must be on drugs. However, I have a super creative mind and I'm pretty sure I know EXACTLY what he's getting at!

My all time favorite song is "Shelf life" by Seven Mary Three. The lyrics. The singing. This is the main song I like by them. I would go to a concert for just this song but I probably would go to another concert if you wanted to add up cumulative songs that I like. I have a favorite song. It's kind of hard to pick a favorite singer or lyricist.

'Nuff said.

Okay, why do I say she's my favorite singer/ songwriter? She's got a captivating voice (drives me up the wall with lust), her lyrics (co-lyricist really, does she still count?) are amazing, she is beautiful, she's not one of those morons you see on late night TV who is completely ignorant to others in their own part of the world as well as other. Did I mention she's beautiful.

My favourite singer is Etta James. I dont think anyone can sing the blues like her. I feel her every word, her every sound. I dont think there'll ever be another quite like her. Shes rough around the edges and I love her for it. My link

My favourite singer/lyricist is Ray LaMontagne. His voice is incredible but his lyrics are just something else. He's original and understated. My link

Adele is the best female singer on the planet bar none. I like Stevie Nicks as well. Both women are great lyricists too . Male vocalists I like are Peter Gabriel and Ozzy Osbourne.

Everyt time I hear another song, I could add another name...

John Lennon is a fantastic vocalist. Twist And Shout is a perfect example.

Jim Morrison.

Could go from primal screams through rock and blues to soothing ballads. His tone - simply awesome. Plus, he's the Lizard King, so what more could you ask for?

Matt Bellamy - Muse.

His vocals are very haunting. I love the way he employs his falsetto, and the man has the most ridiculous range ever... F♯2 to C6 (3.5 octaves). While I have a similar range (I can hit all of the highs, and a little lower) I don't have the sustain or vibrato that Matt's got. He's a legend.

I also love his sense of insanity...

During the early years of Muse, he became involved with some "dodgy" people, with which he stole and sold a Ford Escort for £500. After the owner of the scrap yard from where they stole said Escort threatened to burn Bellamy's house with his family inside it, Bellamy gave the man Muse's tour bus. He then said that he'd like to exact revenge on this man by putting him into a car crusher.
