Darren Hayes is my favorite singer. He was awesome with Savage Garden and even better now. More edge. I admire his style and enjoy his wit. I am hoping that he will gain more attention in the US in the coming months. Perhaps news of his UK and Ireland tour will spread like wildfire and he will tour in the states soon!!

I gotta say, vocals mean nothing to me without great lyrics. If the voice shows emotion, then it adds to the power of the lyrics. I would say:

Corey Taylor----slipknot

Maynard James Keenen----tool/a perfect circle

Aaron Lewis----staind

Three of the greats Andy

Don't forget Dave Williams RIP from Drowning Pool

and Brent Smith from Shinedown

Looks like we have a lot of the same tastes [smiley=rockin.gif]

Are these the ones that do all the shouting & bawling? ;):P

Corey Taylor shouts and bawls, but he does have some great vocals when he sings.

I would have to say that my favorite lead singers are again all rockers but here it goes:

Corey Taylor - Slipknot

Darrel Abbott - Pantera (listen to "cemetery gates" and you'll get y)

Dez Fafara - Coal Chamber / Devildriver - his sound fits his music better then anyone i know

Chester Bennington - Linkin Park (he holds the band together)

James Hetfield - Metallica

Chad Gray - Mudvayne

Trent Reznor - Almost haunting sound

Wayne Static - No one else can recreate his voice

Michael Glabicki (& Liz Berlin) of Rusted Root. http://www.rustedroot.com/

Michael can sound like a fine rock artist, but he likes to do strange stuff too. Some of the tribal sounding warbles sound wonderful over the percussion pieces Rusted Root do.

Well, at the moment (I find my musical tastes swing too much to ever make permanent favourites):

Jack White (White stripes/Raconteurs)

Chris Cornell (I only know his Audioslave stuff, haven't got around to listening to soundgarden yet...)

Matt Costa (tho maybe he's more in as lyricist/songwriter than vocalist, not sure)

Tom Mcrae (awesome songwriter, lyricist and his voice is perfect for his style...)

Grant Nicholas (Feeder - Just because)

Rohan

Lennon/McCartney (they're both darn good!)

Roger Daltrey (especially in the later songs like those in Who's Next and Quadrophenia, when he really demonstrates great control in all the havoc)

Jim Morrison

Rob Halford

Ian Gillan

Ronnie James Dio

David Lee Roth

Go figure. I could have thrown in Rod Evans... but still...

Great Singers: Jussi Bjorling, Alfredo Kraus, Fritz Wunderlicht, early Beniamino Gigli, Tito Schipa.

Amongst the mortals, those that I greatly enjoy: Rob Halford (SWOD is voice 101), Bruce Dickinson (NOTB-SSOASS is just beautiful), Dio (H&H), Chris Deburg (love his feeling), George Michael, Freddy Mercury (brilliant ideas guy), King Diamond (vocal characterizations and intriguing stories have given him a nice career).
