A Song Of Hope

Recommended Posts

Hey gang

Ok, it’s a biggie. Hope.

The challenge is simple. Any song form. Minimum 2 verses. Your song has to encapsulate and radiate hope. No lines of hopelessness allowed. Your song should encourage, lay out positive outcomes to inspire hope.

You cannot bring up negative miserable-ness of now or or past events.

Sound easy?

Good luck!

Cheers

John

Hope is gone -

i don't know -

what is really going on

Hidden life,

secret lies

All is f####d up here tonight

I dont care

about shit

that was never meant for me

I dont need

none of you -

i was raised to die alone

2 verses.  I like the idea, but I couldn’t quit.

Usual Girl

I see you believing

in an effort worth saving

It’s a wonderful, beautiful

and somewhat unusual

day in this crazy world

I catch you smiling

Whenever you’re working
You’re  a wonderful, beautiful

And somewhat unusual

girl

well you know how I am

a tired and brooding old man

waiting for the other shoe to fall

while you’re planting flowers

Painting rainbows on towers

While the mist turns to hurricane squall

you don’t know them and then they’re your friends

Does your insanity know no end

You’re a wonderful, beautiful

Disputably excusuable

anything but usual girl

I know you're not asking for any kind of critique or whatnot and this isn't the place, but really like this, and lovey dovey songs aren't my tastes.

I like how that's used and used a few times and differently throughout, I think this could really benefit by leaning also into

that also being worded really nicely and differently and used a few times, but only if you want to extend the write.

Just my two cents.........sorry if you don't want them :D I could always use those pennies elsewhere right now.

First attempt was a fail.  I ended up utilizing contrast to highlight the hope (couldn't help myself, sometimes I have to see it through and get it out of my system to get anywhere.) In doing so (the contrast) I failed to meet the criteria.   I'll try again (with hope).  I guess this is a great exercise to get me writing after not writing for awhile!  I feel so disoriented from writing because I have been away from it so much lately and it shows in my writing.  Yikes!

Here's another attempt, but distractions creep in and I feel as though I rushed it to get it done.  Perhaps another attempt at a later date.

Hope upon hope

The sun chooses to shine another day

a child bounces and laughs, careless and free

Crocuses bloom in the snow of Spring

As hope upon hope

They do their thing

Bees alight on blooms in patterned flight

The rooster crows daily at dawns first light

The ants, no commander labor anyway

In hope upon hope

They do their thing

Birds teach their hatchlings when its time for flight

Mothers bear children despite great pain

Rain clouds burst quenching thirsty lands

As hope upon hope

They do their thing

Awesome job! Where you could have had negatives you didn’t dive into them. It’s a clever way to achieve that contrast, introduce events that often we interpret as negative, but really they are events that cause change. For example a forest fire that clears the ground for new shoots, or as you have it a rain cloud bursting... but that is the hope.

Nice one.

iv got ambitions  iv got goals

embracing the divine nature of spirit
and becoming whole
I've got hope well reach god and go home

released from the manipulations of this system wev been sold

why do we belive everything that were told
why do we let fear place us under control

do you understand looking up to them

looking down
as they overstand

Thought-provoking lyrics, ALOPRODUCTIONZ.  Listened carefully in a genre not my norm and found it intriguing.

Nice one.

Thank you, John.  I have to share my first song with you now at the mention of the forest fire.  It's like you jumped inside my brain on that one.  Here's that first attempt I didn't share earlier.  I had to laugh because I was scanning, scanning the one I posted remembering that reference in this one, but thinking you saw it in the one I did post and couldn't find it, then it dawned on me that it was my first song challenge attempt (the one that didn't fit the criteria and I hadn't posted).

Rise

Olives are crushed

Wounds are washed

In the oil the olives yield

Pruning may hurt

when branches are cut

Green sprouts emerge behind

Rise, from death to life

A fire burns only what won’t return

Rise from death to life

Emerge within a different realm

Seed that falls

Seems to end it all

Until life bursts from the ground

Abandoned or lost

Paid for and sought

Only who’s lost can be found

Lift up your head, lift up your eyes

Be lifted from the muddy mire

From your humble state

Even earth quakes

Your redemption’s by blood

so rise

Rise, from death to life

A fire burns only what won’t return

Rise from death to life

Emerge within a different realm

Ups and downs, ups and downs
a stormy cloud is getting close to town
But don't worry and don't freak out
just go slowly by slowly, clout upon clout

'could be better, 'could surely be
you're going downhil, far from your dream
But don't worry and don't drop your tea
just pick up some speed, pick up some steam

If that's all there is
go get all of that
If it's as good as it gets
get all the good it has

  • 3 weeks later...

just thought id say like wow amazing songs, all of them like so great and different! reading them one after the other like. ALOPRODUCTIONS really great song there mate, really original imo. btw what does 'morality is limited by duality' mean? Usual Girl is totally loved up and original. Hope upon Hope is really effective, nice one, it really works. i never thought of hope as coming from just normal routine life-cycle things but i guess it does after all.  Danilo i like your song and that last verse is so good i can see that belted out over a nice melody.
